View Full Version : XF USA: $5m recording contract prize, over 12's can audition
'BIG' news promised on the show's official website:
http://thexfactor.blogs.fox.com/2011/02/06/welcome-to-the-x-factor-2/
Judges seems the obvious conclusion, but it might be a bit too obvious?
EDIT: Appears that the so-called 'BIG' news is that the prize is a $5million recording contract, and anyone over the age of 12 can audition. Let-dowwnnnn. :(

Two new adverts premiered for it in the early hours of this morning, I really like them but the second one where there's loads of artists like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Gaga and Madonna with the slogan 'he's/she's got it' made me think Nicole Scherzinger is going to be a judge. Pussycat Dolls are included in that promo and they haven't had a hit single since 2009, they are hardly relevant anymore seeing as they've split up. So for them to be included for me is very telling, I think it's certain she'll be a judge now.

Thanks for that FOX...

Jesus, that's a very low age limit, isn't it? The Americans are strange with their age limits, you can't drink till you're 21 but you can exploit your child on X Factor from 13:conf:

Didn't we try the over 12's can audition one year, the year that opera "Paris" i think she was called was on, but they raised it back up to 16 the following year? 12 is awfully young in my opinion.

really young, It's far too much pressure on a child that age imo

Sorry about that ;)
They've added a bit about auditions to the website which states:
The complete Eligibility Requirements will be posted soon but at a minimum you must be at least 12 years of age by March 1, 2011, a legal US citizen or eligible to work full time, and without a current music recording contract.
Note it says 'current' recording contract...

that's right and they gave her a chance to sing again cos she was a kid which is understandable but at the same time you can't have one rule for the older contestants and another for the younger ones either

New video of Simon explaining the show, love how he says America has the most talent in the world. Bit of an unfair thing to say really.

I would take that with a pinch of salt, just an ego massage for the viewing public no doubt!

Pedantics Arista, if people couldn't guess that it's a typo then there's no hope for them.
I think 12 is awfully young, fair enough with the Got Talent shows as there's fewer performances all together but it's a lot of pressure to put on a child to perform live every week for 10 weeks.

them videos make me really excited Im not sure why. Just seems like the American version is going to be amazing. The first video reminded me of a big brother trailer. The one of Simon talking about the x factor made me excited cos it showed the contestants I will be going to see in 4 weeks time
