With 8.2 million viewers including +1 and a 9.1 million peak. Think C4 have found their BB replacement.

The consolidated figures for the series' second episode were 8.7 million, making it Channel 4's eighth highest-rating programme ever.

It's really messed up, and I'm sure it's against the law.

Love the show though there was a guy on The One show today (a 'gypsy') saying the voice over is a bit patronising and he wished they'd show more of the fact most these days do actually work. Women included. He did admit it was quite fair though but knows full well the next generation will be entirely different

They're tight lipped about their money. Won't say. Always just reply with 'well would you ask a *normal* bride/family where they get their money?'

But to be honest how long can the audience sustain their viewing and thats one program watch channel 4 fail in the summer!

Wow at the ratings, Safe to say it'll be back for another season then. I've found it strangly intresting, I quite liked that Paddy that was on the last episode.

I like it although I don't think I'd enjoy it if it was on every year.
It's interesting but i'm already finding that it's a bit repetative.

All channel's ratings drop during the summer but if the rest of their "creative renewal" follows in the same vein as their other comissions since BB ended, they probably will.

how odd. I don't know anyone that watches it.

You must be living in a cave then because everyone I know watches it and it's always the main topic of conversation the following day.

I think we'll all be eating humble pie. As much as we would all like Channel 4 to fail and regret their idea, I highly doubt they will now. If their creative renewal continues like this, they will look back and laugh at Big Brother.

How is a weekly documentary program airing in February a replacement for Big Brother? They're completely different shows

People are only tuning in to watch a freak show. I would like to know whether they actually pay any taxes on the money they supposedly "earn" since they certainly have plenty of dosh from unknown and unexplained sources. Also why don't the authorities step in to protect young girls from being brought up as sex objects. The grabbing tradition is demeaning and degrading, and if any one outside the gypsy culture were to do it they'd be prosecuted for sexual harrassment. Yet another example of the bizarre and skewed liberal thinking that allows such practices to continue for fear of "offending" certain cultures who have no problem offending the rest of us.

Ratings wise.

Channel 4 have been looking since September for a regular fly-on-the-wall on the show / a series of fly on the wall shows to sustain the ratings shares BB and Celeb BB gave them. Every one they tried between then and Gypsy Weddings and thus the "creative renewal" argument they used to justify BB's axing has failed, till now.

The same was true, for the most part, as far as BB was concerned.

Gyspy's go round robbing stuff. They go to farms and places and steal a lot of the equipment. Etc..

I agree. How many episodes is it on for?? It's not like a 13 week show which is on everday!

*Thinks there will be a "gypsy" in the next series of BB now...*

It's the hit C4 needed to show they can survive without BB - and at the moment one show getting 8m a week plus others in the schedule getting 2-3m a night over the week outweighs the sub-3m figures BB was getting.

This episode too is likely to end up C4's highest rating show of the century in the official figures (which include those who recorded it), beating the 10m the BB3 final got. The last episode beat the BB5 final in the official figures and was C4's highest rating show since the last episode of Friends (shown the same night as the BB5 launch).
