Sizzling from the outset, the latest MasterChef fires up with a tough audition round as the hunt for the country's best amateur cook begins.

With tens of thousands of applicants this year, MasterChef judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace's immense task is to eat and judge a vast assortment of dishes, and then fill the 20 coveted places in this year's competition. Only the lucky ones who become contestants and win a MasterChef apron will have the right to cook in the state-of-the-art cathedral to culinary hopes and dreams: the brand-new MasterChef kitchen.

In this one-hour show, hopefuls plucked from their home kitchens arrive in London from across Britain for the auditions. One by one, they cook their hearts and souls out for the judges before they hear their fate. With only the most delicious morsels leading to a place, emotions are running high for the amateurs and their accompanying family and friends.

Only the best will win a place, taking their first step to winning MasterChef 2011

I watched like 20 Minutes of it last night after Waterloo Road because I couldn't be bollocked moving.

It was hilarious when the girl that looked like Heather Trott was like 'stupid potatoes' when she got eliminated.

And when Jackie, the ******ing bitch that's up herself dropped her pan.
Bellend.

Hope she burns her face on the cooker, she's so desperate.

'YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I WANT THIS, COOKING IS EVERYTHING TO ME! I SWEAR!'

It's like, Get a job love.

Guys which two got through last night out of the 5?

GypsyGoth
16-03-2011, 08:29 PM

Alice Taylor, the latest contestant to be eliminated from MasterChef, has claimed that she was "shocked" by John Torode and Gregg Wallace's verdict.

Taylor missed out on a spot in the Top 6 after failing to impress the judges in a fine dining challenge with celebrity caterer Bertie de Rougemont.

However, speaking to DS, Taylor said that she thought she had proved her value in the competition with her performances in earlier rounds.

"The previous week they had been very lenient with people going through with things like soups and fritters. I thought there was no screw-up with my dish, it was just not to their taste. To go home was a real 'wow' and I was really upset," she said. "I tried not to show it on the programme. I was gutted.

"Last week, I think I proved that I had plenty of skills and I thought that would bide me more time. That's why I was quite shocked to go because I had plenty more to show them."

The mother and model added: "I think they have their niches to fill in the competition. They want people from different backgrounds, and food backgrounds particularly. Tim does the wacky stuff, Tom is the offal king, James is bringing something completely different and I don't think I was really exciting enough."

After Taylor's elimination, the final six contestants were challenged to cook a meal for the entire cast and crew of BBC One drama Merlin.

Bitter?

Yea I liked last year a lot the way there were loads of rounds. And some of the people would make awful stuff for them at the start

This way seems like they got rid of all the rubbish cooks. But I do like they way I get to know the cooks a bit more. Also I like that it's once a week, but I think they could have another show.

This version is much better. I love this format.

Honestly you ladies should watch Masterchef Australia, it wipes the floor with the UK version. Plus Marion and Fiona are .

You should. The Uk one is good, but this actually amazed me and I'm looking forwrad to season 3 in May.

The difference with the Oz one is that you get to know the contestants really well and it was on 3 times a week; A group challenge, an elimination/cook off and an immunity show against a professional chef

GypsyGoth

After I seen his meals I knew he'd win too. He didn't make any mistakes and it was like he cooked more stuff than the others.

I think if I could have one of them cook me a meal though, I'd pick Sara.

I don't feel that Tom ever had a chance of winning.

For his work effort this week and what he did,he deserved the win. How he did it all was amazing, a lot going on.

Tim was too gimmicky for me. I like meals you could recreate. It's not like you could pop to the local Spar for some liquid nitrogeon. Too Heston-like. Fun, creative, yes. Practical and realistic, no. Infact hardly 'cooking' half the time. Not very Masterchef.
