UK commercial broadcaster Channel 5 has announced a raft of new commissions and international acquisitions including a new kids series Hippo's House.
However, the broadcaster denied reports that it was bringing back Endemol's reality series Big Brother.
The Northern & Shell-owned network is launching Hippo's House, which is produced by Scottish indie and So What's The Story Balamory-produced Tattiemoon, for its successful kids block, run by Jessica Symons.
It is has also commissioned Lion TV's lesbian reality series Candy Bar Girls, Gogglebox and Group M-produced magic series Impossible?, Blink Films' cooking series Mexican Food Made Simple, Tiger Aspect's Paul Merton's Great Escapes, Artists in Motion's wildlife series Tarsier Towers, Matchlight's So You Think You Can't Drive, Special Edition's Essex Jungle and Ginger's Walking The Amazon.
The channel will also be airing zombie series The Walking Dead after striking a free-to-air deal with eOne.
Jeff Ford, director of programmes, Channel 5, said: "The investment is now appearing and we'll see that in the next few months."
He added that the network was in discussions with Sony Pictures for the third season of US drama Breaking Bad. "We're in negotiations with Sony about season three. It's about expectations on price," he said.
But he wouldn't discuss reports that it had closed a deal with Endemol to air a new version of Big Brother, which originally aired on Channel 4. "I don't think there's anything to say about that," he said.

So no news is no news.
It's a denial to comment rather than an outright denial that they're bringing it back, wouldn't be surprised though.

BEAST BE QUIET!
Jesus.
There's nothing worse than having something like this threw back in your face after getting so happy for it, but then we have you at the bottom of the post still being deluded shouting that it'll be announced next week.
If it is I'll come back in here and call myself a stupid dick head and worship you.
But it's highlight unlikely now.

Jesus , There is soo much negaitivity on the forums! Why doesnt everyone wait till monday and then if it is coming back people like me and thebeast can say i told you so or if it doesnt then people like patrick can say i told you so ! Theres not point in making agruments when theres no proof either way !

Exactly. So why make the argument that there will be an announcement next week. It's annoying when someone constantly declares things for absoloutely no reason other than to get attention for themselves.
Nobody but Richard Desmond and Endemol knows whats happening. End of story.

Very true .. and they do know, as Endemol senior production staff on their other shows (DITD etc) have been unofficially telling people that BB IS coming back, to Five, its happening over the summer, and it's almost been a done deal with terms agreed for months now. The staff have all be assigned to it. They are just waiting for the right time publicity wise to sign and announce. I can't see the deal falling apart but who knows until it is announced.
The rumour part ... its rumoured to be very different to the BB's before, much more scaled down format and set but going on for longer. Will probably look and feel more like BBUSA. While its rumoured there will be nightly highlights show and some kind of sister show (probably not a daily one and probably not live as i doubt they have the budget to do two shows a day) they supposedly won't be calling it "Big Brother 12" or having any of the past housemates on unless they are already working elsewhere on the channel in which case they will just be featured as a "celeb guest". It's rumoured by staff they won't be doing the big live evictions like before, just maybe a small studio audience.
I'm actually really surprised the people working there are still saying summer .. if that is the case i'd also guess there won't be any open auditions and they will headhunt people instead. I guess we will see when its all announced!

Welcome it was just to really say people there know EXACTLY whats happening and have known for ages.
I'm a bit on the fence about whether it should even come back - it just isn't going to be the same and i don't think it will ever be as popular again as it was.
C4 was all about it being "event" television with all the spectacle and really scripting it heavily. I think Five just want a more chilled out "reality soap" that people can tune in nightly and talk about the next day - maybe not as heavily manipulated - which a lot of fans will love and have wanted, but possibly without the screaming crowds and big faked and invented press stories and dramas it just won't have the same feel. Part of the reason, it looks like Five want to run it continously for many many months.
For this to work Five need to make a NEW show which is clearly different - as they just don't have the budget, facilities or need to simply remake C4 Big Brother as it was .. people would say it looked and felt cheap. They even wanted to call the show something different but due to the current success of Five's new shows (there was no success) i think they are desperate for the BB name value and attention.
The other rumour going around is that there won't be a seprate CBB and BB - they want to mix a few celebrities into BB instead.
