Right... I'm going to use the above website to download a film. I seem to have 3 download options; direct download, download movie or download torrent file. Which do I choose?? :conf:

You need an S-Video Cable (and maybe an audio cable) or if you have HDTV you can use a VGA Cable, both are really cheap.

If I ope it, it automatically opens with Windows media player.. if I put that through my telly will I see all the stuff on screen or just the film?

How easy is is to burn to disc?

Hi Alex.. (welcome back? (not sure if you were on a ban)) :D

I know the sites to use now.. but I now want to watch all my illegally obtained material on my natty new telly.. DOn't know the best way to do it though. I'd like just to be able to copyb it onto a blank DVD and play it on my telly that way.. But I'm not sure if that's as easy as I make it sound?

oh can't help you with that. My computer screen is actually bigger than my TV lol, so i watch everything on my comp.

i think most computers have a video out port on them, so i think it's a matter of buying a certain cable. i dunno though.

Burning DVD's takes way too long unless you've got a DIVX DVD player and can just drag and drop on to the DVD.
If you're laptop's relatively new you might have a HDMI output. Mines 2 years old and has one. Then you can just use that to connect it to your telly and as long as it's on your laptop in full screen you'll only see it in fullscreen on the telly.

Alternatively (what I do), if you've got an XBox360 you can get an external Hard Drive, drag and drop your movies on to there, plug it into the USB on your XBox and play it through "Video Library" :)

It's probably a VGA cable. You can pick onew up really cheap off ebay.
Make sure your TV has VGA input first though.
Google VGA cable aswell and have a look at them to check. :)

Yay! That's exactly what I have AND there's one on my telly too!

Now, once I have it connected, do I just play the movie or whatever through media player or something on the laptop?

It's best to play your films on VLC because it supports more formats than media player.

I use VLC for everything. It's awesome. Quicktime and WMV suck. VLC rocks.

If I wanted to watch it on my computer, I wouldn't be asking how to play it through my tv would I??
