Justin Bieber has apologised for reportedly hoisting his middle finger in anger at a member of the paparazzi.

The incident happened on Tuesday night after the photographer shot a photo of Bieber and Selena Gomez together in Los Angeles.

Bieber took to Twitter to express his regrets.

"Had a great bday and at the end of the night we got surrounded by paps and i reacted in a way i know better. im sorry, (sic)" he tweeted.

Bieber added: "It's not always easy but I know better than to react in anger."
