i noticed this on Big Brother 13's wiki page for a little while but it has been taken off saying due to the fact that BBUK will not be on in 2011 Big Brother USA with it 13th season will get sole possesion of longest running Big Brother.
I am just checking but isn't BB Spain is the longest?
Gran Hermano Spain began in April 2000 and BBUS followed in July, so yes, Spain has run longer than the US.
But lets not rule BBUK out until we know what Channel 5's plans are ;)

The UK has nothing to do with America's claim to the title, because the first BBUK began a week after the first BBUS.
Although really, most BBUS fans don't really consider the first season of BBUS to be a real season, cause it sucked. BBUS really started with season 2. The first season of what is now BBUS really was season 2.

Yeah of the current rules even the production company considers BB1USA to be a season. They even gave it a different logo for AS
BBUK still holds the title for most series though, 11 normal, 7 celebrity, one teen, one E4 spin off and the panto series, grand total of 21. And now Channel 5 rumours

wait but bb1 us started before bbuk1 didnt it? yea it did.
i don't understand what "longest running" means. Shouldn't it be based on how many actual days contestants stayed in the big brother house? , not just what year it started. So maybe because like germany had contestants stayed in a house for an entire year, while bbuk and bbus only have them in for 3 months...
I don't know.
I'd like to know what they base it from.
