How do I turn 'notifications' off?

I keep getting 'Your Notification: 1' on my Welcome page. I' ve read it but it's still there. How can I switch the thing off?

Oh dear, claudia is having the same problem I think.

Was it by any chance a group invite? If so, you need to accept/decline the invite or it will never go away. If not, then I have no clue :/

If its not a group invite you can do this to get rid of it:

Select all of the messages in your inbox then scroll down to the bottom of the screen, choose mark as read from the drop down menu and click go.

If that doesnt work, select all of the messages again and mark as unread then select them all again and mark as read.

Yeah, I found you have to accept or decline the invite. Just reading it leaves the notification still there. Only for social groups. Personal message notifications go once read

Yeah they normally do but Claudia and myself both have had phantom private messages over the past few weeks, there is no unread messages there but it still gives a notification saying there is one.

It says "anyway please buy jedwards all the small things for christmas?" you can guess who it's off. It just won't go away.

That's a social group invite, just decline it.
