I chose "Other" because being a country music fan, I am kinda impartial to this version right here.
All three are pretty amazing but love IZ! :)

No thanks, I had a big breakfast this morning. I don't think I could stomach the saccharine.

If you tell me thats not REAL emotion..
she sings it from her heart, as its her most meaningfull song to her. I saw her on tour sing it too, and everyone was silent.

Just cos you prefer a version doesn't mean another version isn't good or better. I like Take That's Beatle medley but I don't go saying they're a better band than the Beatles.
Oh and I voted Eva Cassidy, one of my favourite songs.

I never said it was better, go read ukturtles response he said "real emotion" a spirefull comment against what I had said, if anything he was the one saying Evas was better!

You must of accidently quoted the wrong person by mistake. I don't see anywhere where i said leonas was better:xyxwave:

It was not 'spiteful' and Eva's is better? *confused*

I never said once that Evas was bad, or worse than Leonas all I said was that I prefure Leonas because of the emotion she puts into the song because of her past. Then uktutrle said it wasn't real emotion, i quoted him saying yes it was and posted a video. Then you quoted me saying that I shouldn't say leonas is better or Evas is not very good which I never said :conf:

How hypocritical. I do understand more people think Evas is better but i still have an opinion, and i wont be alone.

Sunshine, that was not a spiteful comment. Far from it.

Well you said if i want real emotion listen to Evas but I believe Leona shows more emotion in my opinion because there is a background behind her singing it. Also I have seen her live in silence. it was only my opinion princess didn't need to but in and pretend that I said Leonas was better

Excessive use of Vibrato and vocal gymnastics do not equal emotion, they're just fireworks to distract you from the fact she's colder then a russian winter.

Rebecca Ferguson is not far off:D.
Eva did the best version, I also liked Connie Talbot's on BGT:blush:.
I enjoy Israel's version, and I like Ted's band from Scrubs' performance of that version, sounds so good as a four-part harmony!

I don't really like the song but for me the best version I have heard was Shayne Wards from the X Factor.
It's a song that's, just in my opinion, been done too many times now though.

No matter who sing this song - I loathe it. It's one that I should mark down on the "songs that make you want to smash your head against a wall". It completely nauseates me. (sorry SOTR lovers!)

I used to like the Eva version but it's so...in your face with how supposedly sad it is. Israel's owns.

Both Israel and Eva died very young before their versions gained global success. I think that gives their versions added power and poignancy...and sadness. But Judy deserves special praise for making it so iconic in the first place and setting the standard.
All 3 versions are of their time but right now its Israels version that deserves to shine and is a worthy testament and belated tribute to his talent that wasn't properly recognised when he was alive.
So Israel then! :)
Another vote for Leona! :wavey:

Never in my days did I think I'd see an argument in a thread about such a subject - not even on TiBB
Still, made me giggle :joker:
I think I prefer Israel's version because the way Eva sings it, as Shaun said, is so in your face with how depressingly sad it is, and it's just a bit too much, but his version puts a positive twist on it and makes it more listenable. Strange...
