WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has agreed terms to fight IBF/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko on either June 25 or July 2 at a venue in Germany. The consensus top two heavyweights in the world finally struck a deal and signed contracts on Friday evening, setting the wheels in motion on the biggest boxing event of 2011.

After years of negotiating and posturing, Haye and Klitschko are now set to officially collide in the most important heavyweight showdown for nearly a decade and, in doing so, will unify three of the recognised world heavyweight belts.

Speaking of the latest twist in the saga, Haye said: “I always believed we’d one day fight and I’m glad we’ve cut through the nonsense and put together the most important fight in the heavyweight division.

“This is the match the boxing world has been calling for since I first decided to step into the heavyweight division, and I feel it is my destiny to fight and beat Wladimir Klitschko. We are the best two heavyweights in the world and it would have been a travesty for us to have never fought.

“This is an inevitable fight with an inevitable conclusion. Wladimir Klitschko is getting violently knocked out.”

“I have been chasing this fight since day one, because I know boxing styles and I know which styles I have success against,” said Haye. “Klitschko is ready-made for me. I eat tall, chinny Eastern European heavyweights for breakfast. Wladimir is a fighter that doesn’t like to fight, and he has admitted that fact in the past. Unfortunately for him, I am a fighter that loves nothing more than fighting.

“I have the heart of lion, whereas Wladimir has the heart of a hyena. He cries and squeals and slips into the wilderness at the first sign of danger. Wladimir has proven this over the years, and I’m certain he will want no part of this lion when it finally comes time to go to war.”

Odds -

Klitschko to Win - 4/7
Haye to Win - 7/5

Probably going to be Haye's last ever fight because he wants to retire this year.

This fight i would say is 70-30 in Wlad's favour , Haye only has a chance becuz Wlad has one of the poorest chins in boxing history. It's a shame he is not figting Vlad who would have sent him to an early grave

I have not been following these two closely but as a senior boxing analyst I'm going to have a go at this:
*If you are a betting man please note this:

Yes. Klitschko should batter Haye for about 7 rounds before Haye is TKO'ed despite a good effort.
This would happen.

But wait!

There is a reason why Haye may very well score a stunning upset. Would you be surprised if I predicted Haye will not only demolish Wlad but knock him out and it will 'appear' to be done easily?
What??
Here is why: Haye is well onto Klitschko and its something all us experts have spotted for years:
A massive hole in Klitschkos style and defense that, if and when exploited, will demolish him.
Think of a tank with armour on three sides.
Think of a fence surrounding a building but there is a big open gate for deliveries.

Haye knows this and has spent the last two years solving it.
It actually comes to this:
Ring Geometry.
But in this case its something awkward. This might be why nobody drives their truck through his gates.
(but Haye is also correct that they do find predictable opponents/styles for Wlad).
So let me try and break it down in actual practice:

A successful Haye will approach and face Wlad as usual and play right along with the machine's script. Trade jabs. Throw straight right. Back up. rally at him.
Lull.
Lull the machine into its programming. This requires nothing of course. Fans boo a bit. Haye backs off.
OK.
Around midway through round 2 Haye will want to start driving around to the side of the building.
This sounds like basic ring geometry but the real secret here is that it requires some really fine finesse:
He will break fast down and to the left of Klitscho and (as if one move in itself) turn back up facing Wlad.
Going to call this a sharp 90 with the result being he is 'facing' the side of Klitschko and close too.
Angle and distance. Surprisingly close to Wlad. And again, almost as if part of 1 single 'move' all in itself Haye wants to be throwing a sort modified left hook - right combination,
AND<
this might be as key as anything but at that same time he does NOT wait to exchange but now bobs/sidesteps to the right of Wlad and catch him turning with a right-left.
back away. Straight approach again.
Break left sharp face to side - left right punch.
bob under and 'mirror' move on his left side (right left punch).

You get the idea.
But this is something which is basically 'simple ring geometry' only on paper. In fact, I have no doubt Haye 100% knows exactly how this 'side entrance' must be busted open,
but its that 'finesse' and clever way it needs to be done. He needs to be quick and clever and really get the right angle on the puzzle.

IF he can get the right angle and direction to open the safe? It's like Luke finding the opening on the Death Star - Klitscho gets blown up.
Dramatically.
Well really it will almost 'look easy' when you see it happen. Like Haye easily outboxed him.
Too tired to finish this so you get the idea.

Locke.

Haye will knock him out after about 5 rounds. You're right el proximo.

This will be the first thing I buy on box office since the wrestling when I was a kid. Not messing around with streams again after the Haye-Harrison fight, too much lagging on them because of how many people are doing the same.

I think the weigh in is live on Sky Sports News at 1pm today

I can't see it but I want to say 'right-left' combos not the other way.

I suppose there might be some kind of stream I can grab online. Yeah, a lot of people seem to resent Haye for being too mouthy but I'd like to see him win this.
But geez Klitscho coming forward with that jab and tremendous straight right.. yikes! Move Haye move.. FAST or die!

I think Haye should retire. He said he was going to on the Alan Carr show.

He is retiring in October. He will probably want another fight now though, won't want to end his career with a loss

Hope this is the last we hear from Haye. He fought all the loosers and won and then fought the greatest and lost. :joker: Wonder if he'll have the balls to fight Vittali ( Vlads brother ) before he retires- i doubt it. He has shown he is no heavyweight- just a jumped up cruiser weight with a big mouth. Maybe- and i hope he will retire now like he said.

And he took 49 punches off the best and went through 12 rounds, how isn't he a proven heavyweight?

Oh no, I know why but I just hate it when they make excuses. Why not just say he wasn't at his physical best? I wanted him to win but I hate excuses. If he was that bothered he should have pulled out :(

Because heavyweights are born and not bred from cruiser weights. He was mouthing off on how he was going to knock Vlad out and failed miserably. He should retire now and take up modeling or summat that pays the bills.

Cocky quick light on his feet reach disadvantage- he still lost to someone he said he would KO in the 6th. A bit too cocky and pre-emtive of one of the greatest heavy weights of all time. Tonight he met a real heavyweight-not Harrison or that 7ft valuev. He needs to retire now :joker:

Evander Holyfield, one of the best Heavyweights for a decade might just disagree with you.
Tyson might too - his 'natural walking around weight' was around 190. Weight training could beef him up to around 216.
Back when he was the baddest man.

He was mouthing off on how he was going to knock Vlad out and failed miserably.

Wlad was mouthing off about knocking Haye out but there was no 'fail miserably' here.
No shame in that loss. A good effort. Got a few good shots in there. Actually made a Klitschko fight.... somewhat exciting!

Haye and Klitschko already eyeing rematch

Sun, 03 Jul 12:31:00 2011

Wladimir Klitschko has offered David Haye a rematch after beating the Englishman in Hamburg on Saturday night.

The giant Ukrainian won a unanimous points victory to add Haye's WBA world heavyweight title to the WBO, IBF and IBO belts that he already held.

But Klitschko was annoyed at failing to knock out the Londoner, and appeared further irritated when Haye claimed that the only reason he had not been competitive was that he broke a toe in training three weeks ago.

"I'm still not okay with his behaviour before the fight," Klitschko said as he offered Haye a rematch in the post-bout press conference.

"It's definitely disgraceful to the boxing fans and to the sport of boxing, the way the man behaved himself. Right now after the fight, I think the fight talks for itself.

"He's been criticising all of the opponents and also he's been criticising me for being whatever, cautious, but he was more cautious than any other fighters. He was very fast and I didn't get the real and true challenge that I had the opportunity to knock him out.

"He connected with a couple of punches but I wasn't hurt at any stage of the fight. I continued to fight the way I fought all 12 rounds. He criticised all my opponents but he ended up in the same situation."

Haye had insisted before the fight that he would retire upon turning 31 in October, but after the defeat quickly opened the door to extending his career - and admitted that he is desperate to have another go at his victor once back to full fitness.

"I said I would retire in October, but I would be disappointed to go out on a loss," he said.

"Wladimir boxed the perfect fight. He used his size and reach. I wasn't able to land my shots partly because he has good defence.

"I'd love to fight him when I'm 100 per cent fit. I proved I am a genuine heavyweight champion. I took a few shots and I proved a lot of people wrong"

Locke.

I probably would think Haye was disgracing the sport and disappointing boxing fans with his toe excuse,
however,
I've just come to accept he is a professional jackass who is constantly putting on this kind of t**t character.

Klitschko was a class act and I have to say I was impressed at his 'ring generalship'.

I also thought Haye did quite well after all. He fought a VERY GOOD Klitschko and actually made a pretty good little scrap overall!
Glass 3/4ths full I say.

But yeah.. I swear I can see Haye hiding a smile while he was over-selling that stupid toe thing.
I choose to believe this is a kind of character act he does on purpose. It has to be.

THANK GOD baby Haye is handing in his boxing license. Possibly the biggest joke of a fighter i have ever seen earned a shot at the 2nd best heavyweight by beating a whole lot of bums. I was actually hoping he would fight Vitali because unlike his brother he has a killer instinct and would have put Haye in hospital
