Its their custom, I don't personally like the system but then I don't much like any slaughter system for Animals. I wouldn't support a ban on it.

Absolutey not. It's their custom. It would be like if another religion/country asked us to give up part of our custom/tradition.

Go take a look around your local abatoir before you start pointing the finger at religious groups.

Should the ritual slaughter of defenceless animals in abatoirs following current Food Industry Regulations be banned?
All three "rituals" comply with health and safety and animal welfare laws. (and yes I did say 3 rituals because Halal isnt quite the same as Kosher (though the name of the Jewish laws has a H in it - Halakhic, I can see why you got confused Karezza)
Incidentally the requirements of Halal and the Halakhic laws mean the animal should have received a lot better treatment both throughout its life and at its death that Current Meat Industry regulations require.
"Should the ability of karezza to start posts be removed on this forum?", would probably receive more interest.

where do you think non Jewish/Islamic meat comes from? under cabbage patches? They come from slaughter houses - or abbatoirs if you can't handle the word slaugherhouse.
Regardless: the animals are killed for human consumption. End of.

Slaughter for food supply sadly is part of survival instincts and needs.
However slaughter in ritulistic style serves no purpose exept to satisfy the insanity of man kind and is a sign of continuing dark ages barbarism and anyone slightly interested in going down a path of civilised behavour and thought proccess should shout from the hill tops to stop such a pointless practice suitable only for the illiterate and under educated morons in our so called human society.
Just because someone has a custom with the word religion or culture tagged on the end does not make it right.

I think primitive beliefs like a holy way to kill an animal are a bit silly.
I dont have a problem with it at all, considering all the meat I eat I'm not going to get judgemental if they kill an animal a slightly different way

It's their custom, it shouldn't be taken away from them, I prefer not to eat halal etc.. though.

In Holland the Freedom Party of Geert Wilders is leading the campaign to ban kosher and halal slaughter methods.
Good luck Geert.

The far right loon who wants to ban the Qur'an - comparing it to Mein Kampf - and Muslims entering Holland? Not a great endorsement of your cause really is he
