I mean let's think for a second, The X Factor is Britain's biggest show nowadays.
I personally hold the belief this coming series will be the one that turns everyone off, it's wearing thin now, with the USA one aswell and everything being messed about.
And plus the Big Daddy of Reality TV is back, so X Factor can go die.
But let's think realistically here,
Does anyone else think The X Factor will harm Big Brother 12?
Celebrity Big Brother 8 and 9 are fine, they're on in Summer and January.
Poor BB12 is caught right in the X Factor months, you know towards the end of the year when it becomes all depressing and X Factor takes over? :bored:
I know XF is only on in the weekends at night anyway, but I'm also talking about press attention.
It'll be a battle to see which will gain the press's notice - The X Factor or Big Brother 12?
I mean what do you think?

Yeah I just relised this.
Still I think XF will be getting all the headlines in the press not BB. :/

Yeah I know but what about Press Attention?
I agree with Jordan.
Although it'll be interesting to see will The Daily Star betray their own Big Brother for the mess X Factor or will they stay loyal and give XF a little tiny space in the top right hand corner of the front page whilst BB12 gets the rest?
We all know what The Sun will support though, predictable bastards.

I hate XF so I hope it goes and dies in a fire slowly and horribly.
I do think that if Cheryl and Simon vanish to America the show's viewers would go down drastically then people might switch over to Big Brother in frustration and really love it.

Papers only have a certain amount of column inches, and xf certainly takes up alot of those, so bb may suffer in the press coverage... but then news on xf only really kicks in when the live shows start.
X-Factor's for idiots. Big Brother is for idiots too. But also smart people who like to see idiots be idiots for entertainment value.

Big Brother is an adult show what ultimately became a tween one in the end so we should go back to the adult roots and make it show at 10 PM or 10:30 at the latest on the weekend. :D

^ Yes.
If it does go back to that though, will it still be allowed to be advertised before 9PM or be in front pages?

The Sun Dont give big brother much coverage except it features heavily in tv biz , so they do quite a bit. I think big brother should be on 9pm weekdays and then 10pm / 11pm weekends. It has a very young appeal , that gets alot of ratings.
The young appeal comes from the type of young people who would stay up until 11 anyway though. I doubt the type of person allowed watch Orlaith get her baps out at 9 would be told sod off to bed at 10.
It ultimately depends on competition, not audience. If something big is on at 9, chuck it on at 10 and vice versa.

This.
Although no ******ing about with the time table too much, I can't remember if it was BB10 or BB11 but Channel 4 put the show on at 8PM all week in the first month, all because of their ******ing Slumdog Millionaire Marathon.
The ratings were going quite good for the Second Week and then after that they kind of failed.
And we all know Channel 5 like to put on a movie every night...

I detest the X factor.......Complete contrived garbage.......However.......What is the problem I think most people have recorders and will simply watch both if they like both.....

It will certainly eclipse (though OK! and The Star will fight it's corner, maybe heat) it in press coverage but in the ratings, it's only on weekends, when BB traditionally does badly anyway.

BB doesnt get much press attention compared to XF. Hasn't for many years now and I hardly see that changing now its stuck on ch5.
besides the Daily star.
