Hi,
So we all know Big Brother is returning to Channel 5 for 2 years, but does that mean:
2011: CBB8 + BB12
2012: CBB9 + BB13
(Technically 2 years of Big Brother), if so if Big Brother does fail (hope it doesn't though) it coud be OVER again by September 2012.
or
2011: CBB8 + BB12
2012: CBB9 + BB13
2013: CBB10 + BB14
(2 years from 2011 ie. 2013 when the current house permission expires)
Cheers
Jay

2 years generally means 2 years
as in 1 + 1 = 2

How do people know we are having 3 shows back 2 back.
Channel 5 have not announced this.
All they said is we are having the celeb and the regular 1 this year.

It's a good idea, it will be a success so little doubt it will be renewed,2 years will be a good showcase for it and then a further contract can be done later.
Often the problem with 5 year+ deals the producers etc take all for granted knowing that deal is done, this will keep everyone on their toes to make it a success.
In the words of Channel 5 they are delighted to have won BB for the Channel so they will certainly want to renew it when it improves their income and ratings, in fact, they would be totally crazy not to renew it in that scenario.
i'm thinking the second one.

I thinking having the two year deal will, like joeysteele, said keep the producers on their toes. So hopefully we will get a couple of regular shows as good as BB11 and match the success of CB4.
let's just hope enough is good enough to justify renewing the contract in 2013

I'm sure it will. Channel 5 will be more than happy with viewing figures similar to those of BB11.

Fair point, i can see this being a massive hit for C5 ratings wise!

Think of the money they will make from the advertising. The audience they capture through the show are a hard one to reach and advertisers will pay to reach them as I see it. They are bound to be onto a winner.

CH4's last 3 year contract was for 3 main series (BB9, 10 and 11) and 3 winter series (BBCH, CBB6, CBB7).
so we are looking at
CBB8, BB12, CBB9, BB13
At least.

If people want BB to run for longer than 2 years. Then its down to the fans (or so called fans) Who year after year after year sabotage developing story lines by evicting controversial housemates too early simply to satisfy a few seconds of seeing a housemate suffer.......
CH4 got blamed for a lot. The truth is if anyone can kill off BB for good it will be as in the past the fans that screw up the series by regarding the housemates as some sort of shooting gallary to shoot down just for a few moment pleasure........
Result time after time dullest housemate wins BB......
Pesimistically I predict the public will remain on a BB wrecking course as in the past they have shown zero ability to use a bit of common sense when voting......Make the best of these two years because it will be the very last of BB for the reasons stated........

I take it that 2 years is from the date the contract is signed, so we could have the following schedule"
2011 - (Summer) CBB8 followed by BB12
2012 - (Winter/Spring) CBB9 by (Summer) BB13
Interestingly they still have will still have over 6 months of the contract left once the BB13 summer show ends. So there is a chance in theory for one more show before the contract ends in the spring of 2013.
As long as it gets decent ratings for c5, which let's be honest it will, this is probs the biggest thing c5 has done, they will renew it.

Yeah but that doesnt actually say there will be a cbb in Jan.
And Channel 5 said nothing about cbb in January in the official statement.
I dont think they are stupid enough to run 3 series back to back.

Wonderful post bananarama and I'm glad you are still with us. I think that pubic wrecking of the show will be the downfall of the show in the end.
I do wonder however if moving channel and giving the show a bit of a makeover and a new image may save it for a bit longer than this contact.
It's all going to be about the image of the show and how good the channel 5 pr people are at changing the shows image.
However, you are so right so many fans do end up ruining the show not the producers.
