Whether they're stand-up, panelists or actors.

I cannot stand Lee Mack or Sean Locke. They're so overwhelmingly bland. Don't like Jimmy Carr's stand-up either, but he's a pretty good presenter/panelist.

Ricky Gervais. Glad he's taken his overinflated ego to annoy the americans now, long as he leaves us alone.

And James Corden. Quite liked Gavin and Stacey but have never found him likeable or funny, he tries way too hard.

Russell Brand is great, have got all his stand up DVD's. Jonathan Ross is great too but I don't think he does stand up? Alan Carr is good on his chat show but I've never seen him do stand up. Erm.. Jimmy Carr is good on the quiz of the year. That guy from Liverpool is quite good though (can't remember his name).

I hate that guy who seems to be on near enough everything these days.. I can't remember his name but there was a thread on him here a few weeks ago.

Frankie used to be funny, but he tries to hard to make jokes and just comes across as really offensive :/

Shaun
08-04-2011, 09:08 PM
Frankie's material is quite weak once you get past the shock factor. Agreed on Rufus, not really sure why he's successful.

Come to think of it the only Mock The Week people I like are Dara, Andy (used to hate him, but he's become quite good), Hugh and...the others are guests.

Frankie was found out as soon as he left Mock The Week. Without a panel show format for him to inject just small doses of his acidic brand of comedy he falls flat on his face. The guy is awful.

Michael McIntyre and Peter Kay are the first two that come to mind for me because they have crafted out enormous, long term careers for themselves as opposed to these two bit, ~whacky young Topman comedians.

MicIntyre is despised in comedy circled for not penning his own material and the guy just comes off as an absoloute dick who has bulging pockets of safe and secure mainstream joke ditties for nice, kind British suburbia. Kay likewise appeals to the lowest common denominator of comedy tastes as well as surviving almost exclusively off nostalgia and being a ***** to increasingly unfunny charity schtick.

Lee Evans is another one who has gotten really old. I used to see the appeal in small doses and his clearly a naturally funny person but his entire act these days consists of the line 'y'know my wife?'. Go on, just watch the Big DVD from the 02 and count the amount of times he says it.

These three comedians usually appear on the Facebook profiles of people who don't really know comedy but like these guys because they are 'well funny'. Profiles of people who list 'Cheryl Cole and Kings Of Leon lol' for music and 'dnt ever read lol' for books.

James Corden ... well his just a ****. I don't need to explain what an absoloute wangless, flaccid gasbag of a talent vaccum the guy is.

Jimmy Carr isn't funny in the slightest, his laugh is annoying and his jokes on 8/10 Cats are a disgrace.

That show needs Jason Manford and Sean Locke - 2 Fantastic Comedians, Manford in Particular.

Russel Kane, How he won an award for, what was it Best British Comedian? Is a travesty.
He's not that funny - I like him on ITV2 on IAC but that's it.

Interestingly, in light of the untalented non-entities above, I have revised my opinion of Jo Brand, who I used to be big critic of. She actually seems like a pretty good comedienne now with plummeting standards brought in by observational comedy. Come to think of it, I really enjoy her material now.

Lauren Laverne used to go to the school round to corner from mine. She wasn't so bad as a presenter before she got into comedy (which she sucks at). I used to think of her as Fearne Cotton's less annoying twin sister.

I wouldn't call that exploitation. She is just turning her personality up to eleven like virtually every comedian does.

If you don't like the content that's fair enough. I don't either. But it's no different to Brand exploiting the fact that he has a cock or Hick's exploitation of the views he had.

Isin't stand up automatically exploitation of self and ones views if you want to bring the E word into it?

On the topic of Hicks I'll throw Denis Leary's name in the hat. The guy is a Diet Hicks. A less talented, unoriginal hack who ripped off Bill's entire act.

Shaun

Her act revolves around her gender and religion, which I find really stale. I prefer comedians who joke about current affairs and things other than themselves, while self deprecation is always welcomed, an entire act devoted to it isn't my cup of tea. I just find her to be really crass and over the top, maybe her humour doesn't translate over to the UK, she's just always been a comedienne who's stuck out in my mind as someone I don't find funny.

She's also incredibly humble. The stuff she does for people is amazing yet she dies with embarrassment if anyone mentions it. She said her biggest problem in life is she cannot say no to people asking for help. She seriously puts herself out yet thank her and she waves it off and quickly changes the subject. She can't abide it being talked about :)

Michael McIntyre is NOT funny. I'm sure he'd be hysterical down the pub or something but in a public forum he just makes me cringe

russel brand is just so not funny!! My mouth is always curved with a smile in anticipation for laughter but it never comes. His "jokes" are dry. He must have this success because he's good looking and has the right connections.

I like russell howard. I don't know who else I like.
That old one on the bbc2 show. he presents where 6 comedians do sketches. His facial expressions and eyes alone are comedy.

Lenny Henry,I don't think I've ever laughed at him once, Jo Brand also does little for me as a comedienne.

Agree with who said Lenny Henry

Everytime I've seen him his jokes just relate around racism towards black people

Dom Joly

Film-wise, Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller

hannah.
21-05-2011, 12:00 AM
dom joly is definitely funny. and Adam sandlet/Ben stiller (pretty sure they're the same person) cannot be considered comedians. it's like calling a wheelie bin a comedian. RUBBISH!
