I have Windows Vista and today my computer was working fine and then suddenly I got a pop up saying:

'Windows Explorer has stopped working' followed by 'Windows Explorer is restarting...'

And this causes the computer to generally be annoying, lag and slow down.
This happens OVER...and OVER..and OVER again.

I get a bubble Bottom Right of the screen saying to 'Turn on Security Center' to fix the problem.
So I try to and it tells me 'Security Center was unable to run'.

Apparently this is down to McAfee Security automatically turning Security Centre off, so I tried Un-Installing McAfee, but I couldn't get onto Control Panel because the computer KEEPS crashing.

I even system restored the computer back to Friday afternoon, and it's STILL doing it.

What should I do honestly?

Use the install DVD that came with your computer.

Do you really want to reinstall the entire OS for what could be some mundane routine problem? Check all other possible avenues first. Reinstalling should be a last resort.

That's what I was thinking Stu.

I keep checking everywhere for answers but no one knows.
I ran a Malware Scan thing earlier and it took 4 and half hours, bit long.

Get rid of McAfee for starters

takes up huge space on your HD.

Yeah, I tried and it wouldn't let me on the Control Pannel without crashing.

I literally have about 4 seconds to myself before the computer freezes again, it's a joke.

You could try removing McAffee while in safe mode, malwarebytes should also run faster if you do it in safe mode.

DL Revo uninstaller. It clears up all the bits that can be left behind by windows own uninstaller. They can cause problems later.

Thanks Josy and Zippy - will give those ideas a crack tomorrow.
