Based on your own experience, would you rather work for a male or female boss?

No political correctness here, especially since no one can see how you voted. If you don't have an opinion you must be mentally challenged.

Male or female!!!!!! Believe me either can be bloody swines........The only differerence is that women will smile at you and look you in the eyes while stabbing you in the back where as males just scowl and look like satan himself

Depends on the man or woman. I find women in positions of power who are good at their job get the reputation of being b*tches, whereas men in the same position are seen as non-nonsense go-getters.

My boss is a woman and she is much easier to deal with than previous male bosses. By easier to deal with I mean easier to manipulate!

In my experience theyre a bit more compassionate and understanding.

This.

Overall from my little experience... I prefer a male boss.

I have had both male and female bosses who were great and also had both sexes who were complete and utter assholes.

I have noticed though sometimes my immediate bosses attitudes have been affected by whether their boss was male or female, with a male boss in turn reporting to a male boss they were generally okay, however males reporting to females were on the whole knobs.

Whereas females reporting to males were okay when females reported to females they were real ballbusters.

It depends. But probably women. I've worked for some terrible male bosses but not many bad female bosses.

Definitely male. Women are such bitches when they want to be.

I find a male boss makes you feel more at ease if there's something simple that should be common knowledge but you don't know it. He is willing to allow you time to grow, but a female can look at you or talk to you as if you are daft and because as a female she has so much to prove in the male dominated businesses, she rarely has patience or tolerance for lack of knowledge. But that's just the few i've experienced.

I once worked at dixons with a 2 male managers and 1 female boss....oof, she had zero tolerance where as the male managers made me feel more at ease and I learned better that way.

Why?

because you can't use your feminine charms(subtle or otherwise) on other women. I think in a business enviroment women are more competitive with each other than they would be with a man. Its a more complicated dynamic.

depends what business, of course. But in a generally male dominated domain certainly.

Couldn't use any female charms on my last male boss, his husband regularly popped in.....

One female boss did actually tell me why she disliked me on a work night out once she'd had a few. Jealousy. Funny.

Women are generally catty in most environments. It's why I've always got on better with blokes (in a non-sexual way). I'm just tom-boyish. Always have been. But women hate it :(

:nono: even with gay men women have certain charms that men don't have. Its not always sexual.

He and I actually clashed more than we got on. Still preferable to cattiness

Depends on the person, I haven't voted as I don't generalise people based on their gender.

LOL @ all the women saying male

Im so not surprised.

I worked in a mainly male environment for 10 years and I have to say it was the happiest days of my working life so far.

There was never any bitching, we took the utter piss out of each other constantly, we laughed all day, we competed visciously for sales and would often end the day by going straight to the pub for a few pints (which more often than not would end up with us clubbing in our oh so attractive Dixons uniforms!)

Then our new female boss arrived and because I was the only female, I think she saw me as a fellow gossiper.. All shewanted to do was gossip and bitch about other people.. something I've always shied away from. Not saying she was a bad boss, she just enjoyed a gossip about folk.

And re the point of not being able to manipulate female bosses as easily; she was a dawdle! She was such a lazy assed bitch that all I had to do was offer to do her work for herand I had extended lunches, extra days off etc

I now work in a very female orientated business (male boss though) and geez what a nightmare they are.. I don't really work directly with them.. I'm inan office on my own so I'm really just an onlooker, but with the cliques, the bitching, the moaning, the trouble makers and the cats, give me men anyday!

Ever since school I have just found males easier company.. I am lucky that my group of female friends aren't bitch or catty people but women can be nasty!

I've worked with and for females and males over the years and what I've learned is : some men are assholes, some women are bitches, some men are very nice and so are some women.

Yeah.. I do agree with that actually. I met my bestest buddy through work!

But in general, I find men easier to get on with. They take a slagging in better humour.

In my experience women respond better to men in the workplace because a lot of women are boy-pleasers. After centuries of male domination in the workplace many women still cling to that comforting set-up because they want men to be in charge and they can just coast along.

I don't have a female boss now, but I do manage both women and men. I much prefer the males because I find women manipulative and tediously complex. Men are much more upfront and honest and what you see is pretty much what you get with them. The women also take a lot more sick time off and definitely come up with the wildest and most hilariously imaginitive reasons why they couldn't come to work. They can't manipulate me like they manipulate my male colleagues because being a woman myself I can see what they're doing. This is all very general though, I have had a couple of really poor male staff and one or two brilliant women staff.

Generally speaking I'm more likely to be insubordinate under a man's authority than a woman's authority, because I have a low tolerance level for arrogance and smarm which many men make a point of excelling at (it's usually women who seem totally blind to this). So I'm pretty glad I have a female line manager at the minute. My head manager is male, but he's pretty a-okay.

I think you're completely right. I've worked under a few males and one female in particular who specialised in their own various brands of obnoxious, but the woman was the one I could not abide. And it is absolutely because the sexual dynamic - benign as it may be - was absent. I've also been the boss; and I know that while I was respected, they also thought I was a demanding ould bitch at times. It's definitely the case that assertiveness is more admired in men and more frowned upon in women - by both men and women.
