I've seen episodes of Drake & Josh that terrified me more than a Scream movie. They aren't horrors at all. Teen horrors, maybe, but that's an entirely different genre IMO.

28 Days Later or The Silence of The Lambs.

REC, The Shining and Saw 1 are close behind.

I'd say Scream, but I really like them as black comedies. Not really into the straight horrors, they're either really bad low budgets with bad acting or too over the top. So I prefer the ones that don't take themselves seriously.

Scream or Scream 4 :)

Same! Even though I think Scream 2 was perhaps scarier than Scream 4 I'm rarely ever scared of scary movies. Scream and Scream 4 were the 2 most original scary movies I've seen.

In terms of actually being scared Paranormal Activity is the only one that ever got to me. As much as I'd love to be a man about it and admit it is just a movie I did switch on the light halfway through it.

Though it's scary bits towards the climax end up just becoming funny so I was just as well off with leaving the light alone but it's all about the anticipation in a movie like that I guess.
