I have actually never felt pain like this
I have 3 wisdom teeth already, never had any trouble with them. But the last one is trying to some through now, I have a huge hole in my gum where it has cut, my face has swelled up really badly, I cant swallow, and the swelling is making me feel like I have an ear infection.
The dentist apparently cant give me an appointment til next wednesday. But even if they could I dont know how much difference it would make because I actually cant open my mouth wider than about a centimeter, so they wouldnt even be able to have a look.
I feel so sorry for myself right now
Niamh.

Did you tell the dentist it was an emergency?
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 11:48 AM
Just got gav to ring them back. Apparently they can give me an appointment this wednesday now.
So I only have this pain for like 2 days, which is better I guess :S
Niamh.
18-04-2011, 11:50 AM
that's a bit better atleast, you need to get yourself some painkillers!
Vicky.

Painkillers dont work D:

Painkillers dont work D:
ever or just for this?
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 11:52 AM
I havent tried any today
Painkillers never seem to work for me. I gave up on taking tablets years ago, the only thing I ever take is migraleve for my migraines. Even codeine doesnt work on me :bored:
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 11:53 AM
Actually I might get some and try. Wont do me any harm.
Might not be able to swallow them though :joker:
God, Im dropping to pieces recently

Oh really? that's no good, you should go to the chemist and ask anyway, they might have something else you could try
Vicky.

Having a couple of nurofen for the minute.
The swelling is getting worse, gav now reckons I look like Ive been fighting D:
Niamh.
18-04-2011, 11:57 AM
oh God, you poor thing :/ they'll probably have to pull it
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 11:59 AM
I hope they do. Gav says they will probably take my molar out to give the wisdom tooth room to come through, but I would rather they just cut my gum and took the wisdom tooth out tbh
My teeth are strange, I still have all my baby molars and have never had any problems with my teeth til now, no fillings or anything, dentist always tells me mine are perfect ( :D ) I always thought people were exaggerating about the pain of toothache :S
Niamh.
18-04-2011, 12:26 PM
Yeah, so far none of my wisdom teeth have come through and I'm hoping they never will because my dentist told they'll have to come straight out if they ever do as there is no room for them :/
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 12:49 PM
Well painkillers havent took the pain away, but they have made me feel all floaty :bored:
My mate said on FB that he had the same problem a while back but they refused to take his out because they hadnt caused him problems before :bored:
Niamh.
18-04-2011, 12:50 PM
Well, they'll have to do something for you if it's as bad as it sounds
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 12:51 PM
Yeah, they really have to :/
Cant keep on like this

Ouch. Thats horrid Vicky. Hope the dentist can sort it for you. I hate dentists though, I'm petrified of them, whenever they have to do something to my teeth I have to go to a dentist where they put you under lmfao.
Vicky.

Ive never been scared of going to the dentist, though maybe thats because they have never had to do anything to me before.
Come wednesday I have a feeling I may have a new phobia :laugh2:

Yeah but seeing a picture of a dentist isn't gonna scare me, the thought of having to have dental work done whilst I'm awake does. *Shudders*

LOL well the only reason I'm scared is because I had to have a filling done when I was 10 and they didn't numb my mouth enough so I could still feel pain. O_o
Omg I don't wanna scare you too. *Shuts up* :laugh2:
 Poor Vicky.
You could try wrapping up a hot water bottle in a towel and leaning the sore side of your face on it for a while might help with the pain.
Vicky.

I have no hot water bottle D:

If you're mouth is swollen heat won't be good for it though, an ice pack would be better
Vicky.
18-04-2011, 01:11 PM
Yeah ice would probably be better actually.
I'm hungry too, have asked gavin to make me some mash...feeling so sorry for myself

So yeah, finally got to the dentist...
He stuck some horrid tasting brown pasty stuff on my tooth (it had little strings in and that, was so weird), gave me antibiotics and told me to come back in 2 weeks. I swear I could have killed him. He didnt even give me painkillers, told me if I wanted anything stronger than what Im currently taking I had to make an appointment at my doctor. My doctor had no appointments til next week.
So I've spent all yesterday and this morning ringing people to ask if they have any of the strong painkillers that the docs give you, finally got some. Problem is, it says you have to take them 'with or after food'. Will this make a difference? I cant actually eat anything because of the swelling and pain(on a brighter note, this seems a vry good way to lose weight :p ), and I dont want to be taking tablets that might make me ill or something because I didnt eat with them D:

I was going to say maybe something heated to that side of your mouth could help,as Josy said.
It's shocking you have to suffer like that for 2 days, that's a fair while to have constant pain.
Hope you are sorted out soon.

Painkiller that have to be taken with or after food must be taken that way, they can cause stomach problems otherwise. Does your Doctor not do telephone appointments where you can sppeak to the Doctor yourself, explain the problem, that you've been to the Dentist and need some strong painkillers to tide you over.
Receptionists can be a pain but sometimes asking to speak to a Doctor on the phone makes them act quicker for you.
All you want really is a prescription for some painkiller and also if you can stand it ice cream is like food too, you can have that and take painkillers.

Its been 4 days already :(
Heat isnt helping now, ice is though. I actually managed to get a few hours sleep last night...by balancing a pack of frozen bacon on the side of my face. I dont know how gavin didnt crack up when he looked at me :laugh2:
I hate milk, but Ive been told that you can drink a glass of milk rather than eat(if your tablets require you to eat with them) so think am gunna do that in a bit. Pain *should* go with these painkillers, my father in law got given them from the doctor a while back so they are really strong.

I managed to get some without seeing my doctor. I did ask for a telephone appointment but apparently they are really busy with it being bank holiday weekend and that, I picked the wrong time to get toothache :p

I know but still I'm scared. My Mum scared me at first because she said her's were so bad she had to do into hospital and she said she had to have her cheeks stitched to her gums to help her gums heal. When she told me that I was about 9 and I was like O_O K I never want my wisdom teeth to come through.

Yeah when I was younger my mams mate got hers took out, needed stitches and I swear she looked like shed been ran over by a bus or something. Her face was unrecognizable, all purple and black and swollen up really badly. She was like that for about 2 weeks too
