a thread about someone wishing to leave and arista still manages to bring in an excuse for xenophobia. Amazing.

I just came across different forums I was joined to, and wanted to unregister, therefore I was just wondering how to delete my account as I never use it, so it's a bit pointless me still a member to forums I never use. Simple question which I thought required a simple answer. Obviously I was wrong.

I believe you got your simple answer in the very first reply.

Oh, Vicky beat me to it. Well here's a quote from Naked Gun :

Wilma, I promise you; whatever scum did this, not one man on this force will rest one minute until he's behind bars. Now, let's grab a bite to eat.

I thought my answer was clear? You cant unregister it's as simple as that.

Would it not be good if you were allowed to unregister though [even though I know you can't]. Surely it'd make the forum run quicker and everything aswell, specially if you did the same with like other members who had a few posts, cus then their usernames would be free too?

Yeah true the name thing would help a lot....dotn think the users slow the forum down though.

Nah, we would have too many people 'unregister' in a huff about something, then rejoin. Would be more hassle than its worth.

It would become the new 'leaving'

LOL at the thought of you waking up this morning:

'OMG It's Easter, Let's Spring Clean! I just realized I'm still a member of that Big Brother forum I joined back in 2004, I must unregiester.'

And I agree with Vicky.

Yeah I don't understand this. If you don't want to be on the site then just don't come on. Why the need to be unregistered anyway, it's not like it effects you being registered to here?

surely the point is that as long as someone remains an official member, but does not post - it pushes up the membership figure for said forum - making it appear far more popular than it is.

Besideswhich: the guy/girl asked a question: they initially got a reply from Iceman which explained it: but until they came back onto the thread, (and even after they did, and explained why they were asking), the rest of the replies seem to be doing not a lot other than making fun/making out the person is stupid or odd for asking nothing more than a reasonable question - there are many sites which allow you to delete your account or deregister entirely. I don't think what they asked merits all the wise cracks to a very civil question.

I've been on one and I can assure you, they are out there. Because you haven't seen one, doesn't mean they don't exist.

Like I said, the guy asked a civil question: yet mocking him doing so seems be getting encouraged - I find that odd - it's not the best way to treat a member, high post record or not.

Well its not how it works here, they got their answer then ignored it asked again, ignored that and asked again today.

Althought I do find it bizarre that someone finds the sudden need to attempt to have their membership rescinded after 7 years without posting.

Tbh I do agree with Pyramid; most sites I know allow you to unregister/delete your account/etc. it wasnt that unreasonable a question. Although I can see why people maybe took the mick a bit, because the guy felt the need to suddenly have his account deleted when he hadnt even been online for 7 years, people just found it a bit strange that's all

Thanks MTVN for confirming that - it could have been the reason the member asked. Moreso, it may not be the way Tibbs operates, but given the person registered years ago: things may have changed since then and it may have been a requirement now - seeing as they haven't posted much over the years - it was a very reasonable question. I understand the rest of what you say: I found it unpleasant that it was being encouraged.

If Tibbs operate that way, so be it: I'm sure there is a more pleasant and people friendly way of putting that message across - but hey, Tibb for you!! lol
