SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bad Meets Evil teaming in the late '90s of underground Detroit MC's Eminem and Royce da 5'9" became a rap legend of unfulfilled promise. Now, a decade after they last recorded together, Eminem and Royce da 5'9" have revived their Bad Meets Evil project, today officially announcing that an EP on Shady/Interscope Records will be released June 14th.

"Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio," said Eminem. "At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are."

Added Royce, "I'm excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now. We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we're working on the 'Monster' that will be the Slaughterhouse album. #TeamShady."

The two first met in 1997 at a concert in Detroit and soon formed Bad Meets Evil (Royce as Bad and Eminem as Evil). But they released just a few recordings, including the song "Bad Meets Evil" on Eminem's major label debut, The Slim Shady LP and a heralded independent Bad Meets Evil 12" featuring the now underground classic, "Scary Movies." The pair went their separate ways in their solo careers only to be separated by a reluctant feud, thus making it the last time they would be heard together for several years. Sadness over the tragic shooting death of mutual friend Proof in 2006 led to mended fences with Eminem's group D12, which prompted an eventual reconciliation between the two rappers. Eminem and Royce were finally once again on speaking terms after Royce was featured on D12's 2008 mixtape Return Of The Dozen and later went on tour with the group.

Since then, Royce has continued his acclaimed solo career (three of his four officially released albums, most recently 2009's Street Hop, have cracked the Top 40 R&B/Hip-hop chart). With rap stalwarts Joe Budden, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz, he has also formed Slaughterhouse, recently signed to Eminem's Shady Records. In addition, Slaughterhouse contributed a bonus track to the digital deluxe edition of Eminem's blockbuster 2010 Recovery album.

The bulk of the EP's production was helmed by longtime collaborator and D12 member, Mr. Porter (a/k/a Kon Artis) and also features contributions from Mobb Deep's Havoc, DJ Khalil and Bangladesh among others.

The EP's title and new music will be unveiled soon. Check http://www.shadyrecords.com for details in the coming weeks, and follow Shady Records on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/shadyrecords (@shadyrecords).

A round of applause is in order for Bad Meets Evil, the reunited duo of Eminem and Royce da 5'9. This week, their first single "Fast Lane" debuted at No. 32 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

The track sold 84,000 downloads upon its release last week. It's the first offering from their upcoming "Hell: The Sequel" EP, which will be released on June 14.

For Royce, it's his first return to the charts since the single "Hip Hop," from "Death is Certain," appeared in 2004. Incidentally, Royce is releasing the sequel to "Death is Certain," "Success is Certain," on July 26.

Bad Meets Evil is not the only Detroit act making moves on the charts: Big Sean's "My Last" with Chris Brown finally bounded into the top 10 of Billboard's R&B chart and is the No. 1 song on the magazine's Heatseekers chart.

On June 14, all hell will break loose as Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” aka Bad Meets Evil will drop their debut EP. The aptly titled Hell: The Sequel, is so far one of 2011’s most anticipated rap projects and today the good folks at Shady Records released the tracklist:

1. “Welcome 2 Hell” Produced By Havoc
2. “Fast Lane” Produced by Supa Dups
3. “The Reunion” Produced by Sid Roams
4. “Above the Law” Produced by Mr. Porter
5. “I’m On Everything” Feat. Mike Epps Produced by Mr. Porter
6. “A Kiss” Produced by Bangladesh
7. “Lighters” Feat. Bruno Mars Produced by Eminem, The Smeezingtons & Battle Roy
8. “Take from Me” Produced by Mr. Porter
9. “Loud Noises” Feat. Slaughterhouse Produced by Mr. Porter

On May 18 Em and Royce appeared on MTV’s “RapFix Live” and spoke to Sway about the making of the album and their motivations for it.

Bad Meets Evil, first traded bars on Eminem's 1999 major-label debut, The Slim Shady LP, and then went on to release an independent single (with "Nuttin' to Do," "Scary Movies" and "I'm the King") on Game Records later that year. A subsequent feud between Em and Royce halted any collaborations between the two, but the duo has since made peace. Now, the hatchet is buried, Royce and his Slaughterhouse crew are signed to Em’s Shady Records and new Bad Meets Evil EP is set to his stores in just a few weeks.

The EP is predicted to sell around 150,000 copies by the end of the week.

11-year-old Jackie Evancho will make her debut on the list with Dream With Me, who could also be #1, but will likely be #2.

Adele's 21 would likely drop to #3.

Bad Meets Evil could have it very good on next week’s Billboard 200 as the Eminem/Royce Da 5’9 duo are in the lead to top the chart.

To do so, “Hell: the Sequel” has to hold off a surge by the angelic Jackie Evancho and her new album, “Dream With Me.” That’s a celebrity death match just waiting to happen. As of Friday, “Hell” was on target to sell between 155,000-165,000 copies, according to Hits Daily Double, while “Dream With Me” was looking good for 145,000-155,000.

That means Adele’s “21” will likely drop to No. 3, but it still poised to surpass the 100,000 mark. Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” continues to decline, looking to sell only 70,000 copies or so.

The third debut in the top 10 belongs to Owl City’s “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” which will likely bow at No. 5.

Rounding out the top 10 are Jason Aldean’s ‘’My Kinda Party’’ at No. 6, “Now 38” at No. 7, “Book of Mormon” original cast album at No. 8, Brad Paisley’s “This is Country Music” at No. 9 an Top 10 mainstay, Mumford & Sons’ “Sigh No More.”

Eminem and his star power almost surely guarantees heavy sales on any project that bears his name and the trend continued this week as Slim Shady’s newest release Hell: The Sequel – alongside longtime friend Royce Da 5’9 as Bad Meets Evil – gets the distinction of debuting atop the Billboard 200 charts.

For Eminem, the Billboard position is a familiar haunt as the Motor City bad boy has ruled the charts for much of the past decade and remains a record selling phenomenon. In Royce Da 59’s case however, this marks the first time the highly vaunted MC has reached such lofty status. Clocking in at 166, 992 in sales, Hell: The Sequel shows just how powerful Eminem’s brand is as there has been little promotional push and no clear cut smash single to speak of.

Fans on Twitter showed their support of Slim Shady and Nickel Nine’s latest, with some expecting the release to sell as high as it did while others seeing this as a chance for Royce to get his due after so much early promise. Twitter fan @CraigSJenkins tweeted, “Any Eminem project is a lock for at least 6 figure 1st week sales. He is practically the biggest selling artist of our time.” User @ArmedPropaganda said of the EP’s sale, “It's proof that people still want quality music.”

The positive comments continued with, “Big shout out to Royce & Em (Bad Meets Evil) on having the number 1 album on Billboard, very well deserved. The album is crazy lyrical.” Fan @Darealrome humorously added, “Bad Meets Evil went #1, I've said it once and I'll say it again... Eminem is the Rap cheat code.” User @Atilla shouted out Royce Da 5’9 by tweeting, “Eminem & Royce da 5'9" (Bad Meets Evil) have the #1 album in the country. This is great news for Royce, who needed it.”

Hell: The Sequel marks the reunion of the Detroit rhyme slingers after a tiff between Royce and Eminem split the pair apart after a promising few tracks over a decade ago.

Bad Meets Evil wreaks havoc on the albums chart this week with Hell: The Sequel. The dynamic duo of Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ enters the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with their collaborative EP.

A decade after they last recorded together, the Detroit MCs debut with 171,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Eminem last held the No. 1 spot with Recovery, which spent seven weeks at No. 1 in 2010. Royce Da 5’9″ previously peaked at No. 110 with his 2009 solo project Street Hop.

Pop powerhouse Adele’s 21 slides to No. 3 (115,000), while Lady Gaga’s Born This Way moves down two spots to No. 4 (68,000).

Among the new entries this week is R&B singer Ledisi, whose fifth album Pieces of Me comes in at No. 8 with 36,000, marking her first top 10 entry and biggest sales week of her career.

Bad Meets Evil - the hip-hop duo of Eminem and Royce da 5'9" - bookends the Hot 100's top 10 by igniting 17-10 with Digital Gainer honors (and besting its No. 16 peak upon its debut five weeks ago). The cut soars 12-5 on Digital Songs, up 56% to 143,000, marking its best sales week to-date. Airplay continues to build for the song, which rockets 35-20 on Radio Songs (47 million, up 35%).

"Lighters" (which also marks featured artist Bruno Mars' sixth Hot 100 top 10) is Eminem's second top 10 this year. He and Skylar Grey guested on Dr. Dre's "I Need a Doctor," which reached No. 4 in March. Eminem has now notched top 10s under three billings, in fact; he sang on D12's No. 6-peaking "My Band" in 2004. (The superstar has logged 14 top 10s as a soloist).

Rappers Eminem and Royce Da 5' 9's collaborative project Bad Meets Evil: Hell The Sequel, has crossed the 500,000 unit mark. Royce announced that the album has struck gold sales status via Twitter, and showcased his new gold plaque online.

The project marked the first full project the longtime friends and former rivals from Detroit have recorded together and is one of two high-profile collaborative albums released this summer, the other being Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne.

While Em has had multiplatinum successes throughout his career, this is one of Royce's fastest-selling releases; and the rapper received accolades on various social networks. Bad Meets Evil... was released June 14.

It was a contentious showdown, but after many lead changes, Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters," featuring Bruno Mars, bested Britney Spears' "I Wanna Go" to take MTV News' Song of Summer crown.

Nearly a half-million votes were cast, though a vast majority (327,679) of those were split almost evenly between Royce Da 5'9" and Eminem's joint project and Spears. Fan groups rallied behind their respective favorites, leading to a lot of back-and-forth over the past few days, but "Lighters" ultimately came out ahead when polls closed earlier Wednesday (September 7), taking 38.2 percent of the tally with 167,202 votes. The track has turned into a summer sleeper hit for Em, Royce and Mars. It is currently holding strong at #4, its peak position so far, on the Billboard Hot 100, 11 weeks after debuting on the chart.

Spears' "I Wanna Go" — the third Billboard top 10 hit from Femme Fatale — trailed with just over 36.6 percent. If Spears is less than pleased with coming in second, she can take comfort in knowing that her 160,477 votes put her way ahead of her nearest competitor, Lady Gaga, by well over 100,000 votes.

Taking 11.91 percent of the poll, Gaga's "The Edge of Glory" came in third with 52,126 votes. The only other song to pull down a sizable number of votes was Rihanna's "S&M," a track released in late spring that topped the charts early this summer, which garnered 34,681 votes for 7.92 percent of the tally.

Interestingly, many of the summer's biggest chart hits found themselves without much love in our Newsroom poll. Among the songs that reached #1 on the Billboard singles chart but found themselves with fractional percentages of the vote here were Katy Perry's history-making "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" with just 1.26 percent, Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" (0.33 percent), LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (0.71 percent) and this week's Hot 100 #1, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's "Moves Like Jagger" (0.98 percent).

Radio hits from Pitbull and Nicki Minaj also missed the boat with 3,090 votes (0.71 percent) and 1,655 votes (0.38 percent), respectively, for "Give Me Everything" and "Super Bass," while "Dirty Dancer" by Enrique Iglesias featuring Usher and Lil Wayne took 0.28 percent and "Otis" from Throne duo Jay-Z and Kanye West scored just 0.12 percent (or 524 votes).

The numbers for mainstream artists like Perry, Minaj and West were fairly similar to those accrued by lower-profile acts Foster the People, Cobra Starship and David Guetta. Foster's "Pumped Up Kicks" earned the band 0.14 percent of our poll, with slightly bigger numbers falling to Cobra's "You Make Me Feel" (0.25) and Guetta's "Where Them Girls At" (0.16).

That sounds awesome. Yeah, he puts on a great show. I saw him and Jay-Z last year at Comerica. One of the best, and most crowded, live events I've ever been to.
