Girls Aloud will reunite next year, it has been confirmed.

The group, which went on a break in 2009 will return in 2012 for their tenth anniversary according to manager Hilary Shaw and as well as this the reunion will include X Factor judge Cheryl Cole despite recent rumours they would reform without her.

Hilary said: “Everybody wants them to make a comeback and it will be next year. Well, it is their 10th anniversary so there will be something.

“The girls are still getting on great, they speak all the time, and that includes Cheryl and Nadine with the other girls. Cheryl is keen to get back with the girls and is planning ¬something which could be a one off or some gigs.”

Girls Aloud formed in 2002 on ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ and have had twenty top 10 singles, five studio albums and a Greatest Hits compilation.

Don't really care as long as they bring another raunchy calendar out.

Not really bothered, I think The Saturdays have taken over as the UK's favorite girlband now tbh.

You must be seriously badgering a horses arse if you think The Saturdays are anywhere near what Girls Aloud were in terms of both publicity and composition. Fookin 'eck.

Can't wait for the return. Genuinly fantastic pop group.

No I don't think they are as big in terms of publicity and composition but they have a load of top 10 hits. New album out soon I heard, so they could get a #1 from it. From what I've read Girls Aloud are only reuniting for a tour, not new music so I can see The Saturdays getting more success because they won't have competition from GA.

Agreed, the only reason IMO that The Saturdays have had any sort of longevity is because the Sugababes imploded and Girls Aloud disbanded so there are no other girl groups out there and that's been the case since 2009. The Saturdays still haven't got a #1 and they're on what, their third album now? For pop music, that's a pretty impressive run of not doing well. Depending on how the new Sugababes fare and depending on what Girls Aloud actually come back to do, I think The Saturdays will be off our screens in the next couple of years. Frankie'll be a tabloid favourite and Vanessa'll give a solo career a go, that's about all I can imagine from them.
