As much as I think incest is disgusting,I think that they should be in a Psychiatric ward as they are psychilogically damaged.
What do you think?

Well IMO it depends on the age.
The younger one's I would sentence to wards etc.
Where as the older ones I would sentence to prison.

LOL at the tags.
But as vile as I think it is, I dont think it would be right to send people to prison for having sex. But if they were to continue doing it I think they should be forced to be sterilized. (which thinking about it is probably worse than prison :joker: )

I think psychiatric help is more beneficial then prison. I don't think nothing should be done if the two people were unaware beforehand as then it's just an extremely horrendous mistake but I think people who knowingly engage in incest would benefit more from psychologists and therapy rather then a cell.

Oh I agree that they shouldnt get into trouble if they didnt know they was Brother and Sister.
Why should two consenting adults be sent to prison for having sex? It doesn't matter how disgusting I find it. They are consenting. It's none of my business.
Also ... wanting to **** the brains out of your attractive sister doesn't nessacerily mean you are psychotic either. They could be just perverted, morally bankrupt thickos with no concern for decency or natural order. Doesn't mean they can't function in the workplace or watch telly without bouncing off the walls.
Well if they both consent then I guess they have a right to do it, however messed up it may be

No, they need counselling and help so all avenues outside a prison sentence should be the norm.
If they persist then perhaps some sectioning period could be the only way to deal with it as clearly there is a mental imbalance somewhere,
Prison though is not the way or an answer.

i find it quite disturbing, but they shouldn't be imprisoned.

There are also massive health ( likely ) problems with Children if they went too far and ended up having a child,it is simply a wrong act.

Send them to prison? Have them committed? Force them to be sterilised? Blimey... you'd think we were talking about paedophiles and violent rapists. I personally find it pretty sickening, but I find the comments about punishment pretty alarming at best and bordering on hysterical at worst. If you want to get all heated about wrongdoers I think it'd be better to find a less innocuous target.

Force them to be sterilised?
Yeah...as if the female got pregnant chance are the baby would have all sorts of problems :/
They can be vile all they want, but no need to pass problems onto a baby through it all.

i think if they are caught they should get like a choice and they can choose sterilised and still do it in their gross disgusting way, or not be and have to stay away from each other and monitored with gps tracking.

Hmm, this is a tricky one.
I definitely don't think they should be sent to a psychiatric ward as some are suggesting, morality is judgemental so as long as they can fully function in society, there is no need for them to be sectioned.
However, the legality of it is tough. Although both parties are consenting and not hurting anyone during the actual act of intercourse, there is a change of pregnancy and ruining another human's life due to possible mental issues, possible physical deformaties and bullying. This, I think should be illegal and because 100% safe sex isn't possible, it means than it would have to be illegal.
If they're two consenting adults & it doesn't involve anyone else why should anyone else be allowed to dictate what's right & wrong.

I said I didn't believe prison was the place to deal with this scenario but incest is illegal in the UK so to have to be forced to get medical or professional help should be a must for starters.

As much as it is weird and socially unacceptable I'd much rather keep those spaces in prisons for people that have actually committed harmful acts like rape and murder.

whats the point sending them to prison if its consensual?
I think there are many crimes that need more creative(and more beneficial) punishments. This is definitely one of them. Just throwing people into prison when they are no risk to anybody is a waste of money and much needed prison space.
Matters like incest need to be looked at case by case because there are often very strong reasons why theyve occured. Sometimes children are abused within a family and then the boundaries become muddied. There are also cases where siblings didnt actually grow up together and only met in adulthood...and were sexually attracted. So it all depends.
But prisons not the answer.

Does this hysterical knee-jerk reaction actually relate to anyone in particular? Or is the question hypothetical? In either case, if you're going to forcibly sterilise someone because "chances are" they may have a baby with "all sorts of problems", are you also going to sterilise people who have a genetic disease that may be passed on? How about drug adicts who get pregnant? Are you going to sterlise them too?
Vicky.

Hardly the same thing though is it...people born with a genetic disease cant actually help it. You CAN help having sex with a relative.
Meh, I dont know the exact statistics or anything. I think incest makes you 3 times more likely to have a baby with defects or something. If you want to shag your sister/brother, get on with it, but dont pass problems on to innocent people through your **** ups.

For once I agree with you.......Prison won't solve that problem. Neither will seeing a shrink. Incest is a perverted form of sexuality and you can't change that.......

Are people sent to prison nowadays for committing Incest? Offhand I cant recalll any cases recently in the UK where people have been prosecuted and then sentenced to prison for committing Incest, though some people have had the charge included in other charges lists like rape sexual assualt etc.
Todays justice system doesnt always prosecute people who transgress slightly outdated laws.

Twenty-nine children of brother-sister or father-daughter matings were studied. Twenty-one were ascertained because of the history of incest, eight because of signs or symptoms in the child. In the first group of 21 children, 12 had abnormalities, which were severe in nine (43%). In one of these the disorder was autosomal recessive. All eight of the group referred with signs or symptoms had abnormalities, three from recessive disorders. The high empiric risk for severe problems in the children of such close consanguineous matings should be borne in mind, as most of these infants are relinquished for adoption.
