British prime minister David Cameron supports a ban on television same-sex kisses outside late-night "adult" viewing hours.

British prime minister David Cameron wants to restrict same-sex kisses on television to late-night adult viewing hours.

The Sun reports that Cameron, the Conservative leader who attended the royal wedding last week, supports a ban on same-sex kisses during the "pre-watershed" viewing hours before 9 p.m. An independent review may recommend the restriction.

Brooke Vincent, who plays lesbian Sophie Webster on the soap opera Coronation Street, took to Twitter to accuse Cameron of not supporting equality.

According to The Sun, the 18-year-old actress tweeted, "I swear David Cameron's meant to be supporting equal rights. I just think if same-sex kisses are what he is prioritising and concentrating on changing, our country's in trouble."

What a ******!

Lovely Brooke is right, I'll be honest though I do cringe when Christian and Syed kiss on EastEnders, when the two lesbians in Corrie kiss though :amazed:.

But I suppose it'd be wrong for me to say 'Keep Lesbian Kisses! ****** The Gays!' so I'm with Brooke.

Cameron should focus on more important things anyway,
Like doing something about the ******ing imigrants that keep coming over here! I was in full support of Cameron last year because I thought he would do something about them, and his main priority if banning same sex kisses on telly or organizing little camp street parties with children during The Royal Wedding?

Complete Joke.

Doesn't surprise me,he seems to be very awkward and uneasy even when just talking about gay matters.Wait until Peter Tatchell is it, gets hold of this one.

I think he should step back and say nothing as to this otherwise he may find himself being seen as anti gay, he already has a likely homophobe as Home Secretary in Theresa May.

Live and let live should be the Govts motto,I am not gay and these things don't bother me in the slightest, but really are people honestly offended in any way as to seeing 2 people kissing of the same sex in a fictitious TV programme.Or in real life for that matter,it should be their business.

He will likely in a few days or few weeks time say he has re-thought his position on it, like most things he does and says and backtrack on it.

He seems to like wanting to cause more and more riots doesn't he, because if this is true, I can't see the gay community taking it lighty.

No way this is true. David Cameron isn't stupid enough it say something like this, even if he really thinks it.

letmein is usually right in what he posts, this is attributed to things Cameron has said to The Sun, The Sun would not invent anything that could be harmful to Cameron or the Conservatives.

It will be true at this moment in time but if Cameron sees a backlash publicly looming he will back off from it likely and say ''it was taken out of context''.

They are.

The problem with Cameron is he often speaks without taking any advice and then has to clear everything up later.Even on policy.

It wouldn't surprise me that he really thinks this way on this matter.

Since when did people put any weight in what the Sun says, there doesnt seem to be one credible source reporting this and even the Sun itself doesnt appear to have anything, I say it's bull

No ..... should I ?

(The OP describes her as "18-year-old actress Brooke Vincent plays lesbian Sophie Webster on the soap opera Coronation Street", but none of that means anything to me ..... :conf:)

It seems that some committee or something wants to look at banning gay kissing on TV etc, and that David Cameron is known to support the move.

It perhaps is a bit less than he himself calling for it but there does seem to be a base to the story.

David Cameron's doing a great job of guaranteeing himself another term... The media will jump on it and crucify him as a homophobe.

I must have missed the sentence when I said he wasn't.

joeysteele

Which he is.

I think he is too, I recall an interview he was doing for a gay magazine or something and he even had to ask for the camera's not to be there for a while so he could get his thoughts.
stuttering and at a loss on the topic or his own feelings as to the issue,it said everything as to his real thinking as to it and also how very uncomfortable he found himself even just talking about it.

This TV thing is a silly avenue to go down on,whether we are straight or gay we all have likely contacts and friends who are opposite to our sexual orientation in our lives.
I know many of my student friends who confide in and trust their gay friends, male and female more than they can or do their straight friends.
It is nonsense to treat this as a taboo subject and censor things like kissing on a fictitious programme or a sexy, raunchy dance routines by singers on TV.

I am not offended by any of it.
As long as nothing is explicit and no one is saying, all you watching must do as we do, then it's wrong to attempt to stigmatise anyone.

If something looks offensive to individuals on TV then switch over, for goodness sake we have more channels than ever now, this is just about the last thing Cameron should be bothering about and really most of it I believe is borne out of his and others personal prejudices.

This is why I laugh when ******* who read the Daily Mail (and those who write for it) decry the state of the post-Thatcher Tory party as some sort of blemish on 'true conservatism' hijacked by political correctness to attack our civil liberties.

The truth is their philistine, 'concerned-parent' agenda has never changed. Only this time around there is more bread and circuses, more apathy and more lies (if that were at all possible).

David Cameron... a true blue.
