This result will put the PR question out of the running for a fair few Parliaments now, Nick Clegg for all his deceit to his voters has now failed very early on in this coalition to even get the most minor move as to electoral reform.
His party membership will be inwardly furious, all is lost already for them. All for a few Govt positions and an increase in salary Clegg has turned his back on his party and its old principles but also on the voters who put their trust in him.
This is a really good result from the voters as to AV, a deserved kick back in the teeth for Clegg and his MPs for the kick in the teeth he and his MPs gave to the Lib Dem voters after the last election.
I was surprised at the resounding no the voters gave to AV though.

He hasn't any choice but to give it up now, he got the worst possible deal as to electoral reform from his sacred coalition negotiations and deal,he has been massively humiliated and defeated in it by the voters and so early on in the Parliament's life too.
As the Interviewers and others say, the Lib Dems now have nothing left they can give or get on the PR issue and also nowhere to go.
Clegg and his negotiating team sold out their principles, PR and even the good of their party for this hotchpotch of a coalition deal.
Hopefully the Conservatives don't and I am sure they won't now make any concessions to the Lib Dems whatsoever and call their bluff because now the Lib Dems fear a general election far more than the Conservatives do.
Also the Lib Dems are accusing the Conservatives of all sorts of wrongdoing in the NO campaign, well all they have been shown is a demonstration of how the Conservative massive party machine will equally turn on them when the next election comes.
