I use acronyms yes, but I only use the ones everyone else uses like ik, ikr, atm, iirc and so on. I use kmt as well but thats more of a joke. :tongue:

People used to be given warnings for text speak, now I notice the mods are much more tolerant of it. I would love for warnings/infractions to be given out for it again though, it's so annoying to see a post full of it and there are some members who use it constantly.

I kind of agree, I do find it annoying at times, but I use it to abbreviate often - e.g. atm, LOL. I'll also make it blatently obvious I'm using it when somebody writes something really stupid or ignorant, for example I might type like this...

The original purpose for text speak in short message texting was because people were restricted in the number of characters they could use on a mobile phone.

That restriction does not exist here, and text message speech was banned a long time ago, especially as some could not understand what was being said.
