View Full Version : Simon Cowell confirms Gary Barlow for 'X Factor'

Simon Cowell has announced that Gary Barlow will be a judge on The X Factor.
The show boss revealed the news when he arrived at the Galen Centre in Los Angeles for auditions on the US version of the singing competition.
According to various reports, Cowell said: "Gary Barlow is the first person confirmed."
He apparently refused to confirm that Barlow would replace Cheryl Cole, who last week was added to the panel of the US show.
There has been no official confirmation of Cowell's statement.
Barlow was reported to have finalised a deal over the weekend.
It was suggested that Dannii Minogue has not yet signed a deal to return to the programme, but that Louis Walsh will definitely be back.

It gets better every year. And it'll get more viewers than ever this year, seeing as Take That are the biggest group in the country..

Got a feeling this year is going to be shockingly bad.
Gary's stuffy and won't be entertaining to watch, regardless of how experienced he is. Louis will be even more pointless now without Simon to wind up; I kind of hope Dannii doesn't return 'cause the show will go down the toilet IMO.

So still nothing official then. The X Factor audition dates clash with some of Take That's tour dates. Still don't get this being true at all.

Cheryl Cole has admitted that quitting the UK to appear on The X Factor USA is a "big step" for her.
It was confirmed last week that the British popstar will join Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Antonio 'L.A' Reid on the judging panel for the Fox show. Cole quit her role as a judge on the UK version of the show to take up her new job.
"I miss the UK already but I'm such a homebody," Cole told reporters at the first day of recording in Los Angeles. "This is actually really good for me, to just step out of my comfort zone too and push myself."
Speaking to Yahoo, she continued: "It's a big step for me. I'm kind of staking a lot myself too. I've left the UK X Factor and I'm in a foreign country. It's so strange for me. It's a big deal."
However, Cole admitted that she is "not really" nervous about how she will be received by the American audience for her role as a judge.
"If it was my music then yes, absolutely," she said. "I feel like it's the contestants who are the ones with the nerves and it's about me helping someone else with their dream. I think talent is talent. Talent doesn't have a city - it is what is it and if you are talented, then it doesn't matter where you are from."
On becoming famous in the US, she added: "I don't think you can ever be prepared for that. It's quite a scary thing." She went on to insist that she will "never, ever change" how she speaks, saying: "I think Americans understand me OK - you understand me! It's just something for people to say."

Gary will be great. He'll be able to write the winner's song - which he's already got experience with from Britain's Got The Pop Factor Peter Kay thing.

Can I just say I know I'm 100% completely bias, but why do people percieve Gary as boring? I've watched god knows how many Take That interviews and backstage footage and all the rest and he always comes across as a really funny, down to earth, genuine person.

Yeah, I'd agree with you actually. He certainly has the likeability factor and I think he'd be a good judge.
