View Full Version : What noises actually send you to sleep?

Instead of disturbing you?

For me - wind, heavy rain and storms.
A cat purring
A ticking clock (used to HATE that)
Traffic
Birds singing

What I detest and can't sleep while hearing -

Cats fighting
Snoring
Alarms

Yep, it's time for a Kerry random question thread again :spin:

I dont really think there are any noises that actually send me to sleep, I sometimes listen to some music which makes me tired but I generally need it to be pretty quiet

Oh and I mean while laying in bed btw. Or relaxing at least. I don't nod off while waiting to cross a road

I love thunderstorms or rain. That gets me to sleep in no time. That and no noise will get me to sleep. I used to have loads of problems getting to sleep but I started wearing earplugs and I sleep a lot easier now. :)

I hate birds singing when I'm trying to sleep. They are so annoying. We have a nest of birds in our back garden and they start tweeting at 12am and do not stop until the morning. Little ****ers used to keep me up for hours. I hated them. :bored:

Cats Purring makes me sleep too
Really Heavy Rain
(not to sound like a creepy perv bitch) but when I sleep next to someone, the sound of them breathing (NOT SNORING, ugh) makes me go to sleep

Oooh I'd add birds to my send me to sleep list. As long as they're singing and not fighting :D

Birds do my tits in, If I wake up in the morning and I hear them outside, I want to throw my shoes at them, I can't get to sleep otherwise

When I hear birds singing I know I don't have a chance at getting to sleep :p Love the sound of heavy rain on the window though, it's so cosy.

Rain and wind, the sound of the sea and gulls. I don't live near the sea, but used to have a clock that played the sounds. If it's raining and windy outside, I imagine I am by the seaside and I am relaxed and asleep in no time :)

I cant sleep if its completely silent, have to put my headphones on or have tv on low.

I used to hate ticking clocks too but i've had one about year and half now and don't even notice it unless I think about it.... like now.
