Big Brother will not be available for viewers in the Republic of Ireland when it returns in August, Channel 5 have confirmed. Speaking to Total Big Brother, Channel 5 said: “Unfortunately, we only have the rights to broadcast our programmes in the United Kingdom. We will be unable to transmit this programme in the Republic Of Ireland or make any online content accessible there.”

When the show was broadcast on Channel 4, around 70% of residents in ROI were able to watch the reality TV show on their television.

Channel 5 is available in Switzerland, but it is not available on cable or MMDS in the Republic of Ireland, like many other TV channels. But its terrestrial signal can be received in areas bordering Northern Ireland, or coastal areas close to Wales, also some parts of the Republic may be able to receive a weak signal via FreeSat.

But there is a way for views to access the channel using the TV guide on their tv's...

edit

It basically gives you walk through steps on how to tune channel 5.

Anyone tried it? Does it work for you? :)

I guess, the post would have been quite long then and whenever someone posts something massive it normally doesn't get read, so I broke it into
sections.

Anything else you'd like to criticize?

I have sky freeview and it's on my telly upstairs but not downstairs for some reason, I think I can probably tune it in downstairs if I do what Stu said but I didn't have to for the telly upstairs:conf:

I have it too , you can get anywhere in Ireland with sky box or a free to air receiver which cost about 60 to 70 euros , also you can get any regional BBC or ITV you want if you know the frequencies which you can get in" What Satellite " magazine . I have 4 satelite dishes myself and get television from all over Europe used to watch big brother Germany when it was free to air before Sky took over there too
