You Me At Six have claimed that their new album is a "big step up" from their early work, comparing some tracks on it to Coldplay.
Speaking to NME, singer Josh Franceschi said the band believe their third album sees them moving away from their pop punk roots.
Singer Josh Franceschi said: "With this one [album] we wanted to show that we've got a really wide spectrum of sound. There are songs on the album that could be on a Coldplay record and yet there are songs that could be made by a far heavier band."
Franceschi also said that the new album could take the band away from the pop punk scene he thinks they are considered part of. "I really think that if there's going to be a You Me At Six album that takes us out of the scene we're in, then this is it," he said.
He added that the new album would feature an expanded sound, with strings and horns written in to new songs. "It was good to be taken out of our comfort zone and made to try new things," he said. "Before we knew it we were really thinking big and writing parts for strings and horns and working with conductors."
You Me At Six's new album is set to released in the autumn. They play slots at Sonisphere Festival and V Festival this summer.
