Musically, I like both.

Madonna however, totally outstrips Lady Gaga...... Madonna broke some boundaries: but Lady Gaga is well OTT on the self promotional thing and trying to evoke contraversay, seek major publicity (yes Madonaa did the same, but no where near as pathetic as LG..... can't help but feel she LG, needs to come back down to earth now and again.

Let's look at how Madonna is 'portrayed' and made fun of. Lady Gaga should look and learn from that..... as far as I see it, this will be exactly the postion that Lady Gaga will be in ..... and far sooner than Madonna.

I like both but Madonna has to be given credit for her longevity! 3 decades! There won't be many current popstars that will still be around in 30 years!

However I do think GaGa is one of the best popsters in a long long time. She does need to stop with all the mentalness though! She's a talented enough songwriter/singer/choreographer/dancer not to need all that ****! :)

The mentalness is part of the PR and marketing strategy, she and her team know exactly what they are doing;).

Madonna is amazing, she would probably be even bigger if she debuted in this era of music IMO due to the rise of social networking and it's effects on the music industry..

Let's state the obvious, Madonna.

Not her biggest fan but she is ******** all over Gaga when it comes to lyrics, creativity, and craziness.

I don't hate Gaga, but I'm not a fan either. She just happens to be there. Her music is not bad but sometimes she tries way too hard to be provocative, and it ends up flat.
Born This Way was just an almost identical copy of Express Yourself and the video of Judas is just ridiculous.

At the end of the day, they belong to different generations so it's not even productive to say "who's better".

But still, Madonna went further than Gaga ever will. Period.

In terms of originality and creativity, Madonna. In terms of vocal ability it's got to be Gaga. Madonna's extremely tone-deaf.

Won't Madonna have been inspired of someone from the musical industry when she was growing up dreaming to be a singer? I heard she was a big fan of Debbie Harry from Blondie who is brilliant I have to say:D.

Gaga isn't totally original I can admit that as a fan but so are other artists, even now most tracks are sampling a track that was out from another generation or some sort. Snoop Dogg's latest track Sweat sampled an old dance tune for example!:joker:

I actually have Madonnas entire catalogue of songs. When you look at the amount of hits and number of classic ballads, classic pop songs, classic club songs etc etc its actually astonishing.

Then you have Gaga with her one note sound. A sound which actually belongs to Redone. She may well go on to create a more diverse catalogue of music over the years but so far she's a one note wonder.

And her little monsters can go follow each other off a cliff. :)

Gaga actually writes her own songs though, RedOne helps to put the sound together.

Madonna would need someone in the studio to put the sound of her music together also, she like LG wouldn't have any idea to do that kind of stuff.

I'm not saying Gaga is the only one copying but she is the most obvious one. "I'm sucking Madonna's balls" is written all over her, her music, her videos but at the end, it's not horrible, it's just...there. Not good, not bad. Just some dance songs.

Gaga has everything left to prove. I'm sorry but her first album was a global success, no criticism but Born This Way is way less liked and people start doubting her.
She went a bit too far and every song is getting obvious, music wise. So are her videos. You already know there will be some God/Religion related matter, you know she'll end up naked somehow, and will take some ridiculous contortionist poses.

BUT, I like the fact she is writing her own stuff contrary to Madonna or Shitney Spears (wtf and lmao at her last album. this bitch is embarrassing)

Madonna. She broke new ground that Lady GaGa can never break by virtue of Madonna coming along first; there is nothing left for a female pop artist to do that will open up a new territory of self expression because it's been done by other women, decades ago. Lady GaGa, to her credit, is a phenomenon and she deserves all the success she has attained thus far; her music doesn't really appeal to me but there are a couple of songs I enjoy, and if you're not splitting opinions then you're never going to reach the pinnacle of the music business. I think the gimmicks are rather tiring and I find the weirdness a bit over the top; you can't entirely fake being an odd person but it's very easy to exaggerate that, and I find her persona quite grating for that reason, because in some clips I've seen of her she seems quite funny and down to earth (American Idol) and at other times she's forcibly awkward and impossible to warm to (Jonathan Ross on one occasion, but quite funny on another occasion) - so I don't know what to make of her. Her voice is superior to Madonna's, but Madonna came first and did so much more for music than Lady GaGa ever will.
