Geri Halliwell is set to re-launch her solo pop career with a new album.

The ex-Spice Girls singer is back in the studio working on an album named ’Putting On The Bling’. The album is named after a song set to feature on it, which will be a reworked version popular staple ’Puttin’ On The Ritz’, reports the Daily Express.

A source told the newspaper: "She’s working with some of the production teams behind some of the Spice Girls biggest hits. She’s very excited.” They went on to describe the sound of the new songs as "loud, brash and loads of fun," before adding: "Geri is very good at making sure she gets noticed and this will be no exception to that rule."

The paper quotes the singer as saying: "For me, 2011 has started off incredibly excitingly. Music and fashion, two working loves of my life, developing incredibly and both coming to fruition."

Last I heard she was masterminding The New Spice Girls with Simon Fuller. Sounds like she's dumped that and decided to keep the songs for herself.

The title 'Puttin' On The Bling' sounds like it could have been a Spice Girls song. In fact her solo career has tried to extend that Spice Girls vibe, so I bet I'm right.

She's not talented, though. Her popularity as a solo artist stemmed from her popularity as part of a group and it waned over time, which is why she's not been relevant to the music industry for a number of years. Any attempt at a comeback WILL flop; she doesn't have an amazing voice, she's not young and attractive; a lot of her original appeal as a sort of sex symbol stemmed from how she looked back in the day; she looks nothing like how she did then anymore. She was part of a fad and she should have the common sense to recognise that and be happy with her past successes.

geri is amazing <3 she clearly has no vocal talent and working with spice girls producers like eighty years after they had a hit is a bit wrong, but she's a tryer.
