View Full Version : Housemates in Pairs?

As part of twists, housemates have been paired for the week (in BB7 - even evicted as a pair - Spiral & ?, BB11's horse task etc.), but how about pairings for the majority of the series?

Housemates can either enter as friends/relatives, and everything they do are in their pairs - nominations, tasks, etc.

OR

Housemates are immediately paired as they enter the house by random (some sort of 'name from the hat' system), and they do everything from then in their pairs.

I think this would test individual's popularity - will somebody loved be kept even though their pair is an asshole? Nominations will be difficult, as pairs may have alternate opinions + you may hate somebody but are you willing to nom them if you like their partner?

Half way through the pairs can swap or they become single housemates.
Evictions could either be done in pairs, or single evictions which split pairs through the show, with the last pair winning some sort of prize - maybe half the prize fund?

Just an idea, I wouldnt want it for the upcoming series but a possibility for next year's :D

I like the idea of friends going in the house, but not with joint nominations.

I was actually going to say why would u want housemates to go to Paris, they should have no contact with the outside world. :nono:

I don't think people who know each other should go in; look how it ruined Rex as a housemate when they put Nicole in. I do like the pair idea but I think the novelty value would wear off very quickly; unless they changed the pairs every week to keep it fresh but even then I think it would get boring.

Every year I have to say this (more often in BBUSA) but now here:

IF you think pairs, ex's, friends, partners or really ANY combination where ANY HM knows ANY OTHER HM from outside the house is a good idea?

admin edit
Its done.
To death.
Then again. And again. It has been done 100 ways to Sunday by so many BB Series over the decades.
Done so often that some series (BBUSA for example) nearly made it THE PREMISE of Big Brother itself.
Reunions, surprise ex's. Jerry Springer shocking reuniting twists.

But whoever thinks these are a good idea just cannot comprehend how much this ruins.. I means rots and stinkfingers Big Brother's very premise,
and,
if only they realized just how much fun, intrigue, curiosity, what subtle and overt social dynamic is RUINED by that cheapest of all sell-outs.

Honestly KNOCK IT OFF!
Stop tempting this program to sell itself out AND ruin things for REAL BB FANS with even the mention of this idea.
Stop it. Go watch Jerry Springer repeats or whatever it takes to leave it alone here.

Okay great. thx

Im a massive BB fan, Im just trying to think of ideas to keep things fresh.
I know the idea isnt original, but its working on something thats been done but not to the full extent.

Remember, this isnt affecting 1 HM by sending in their partner, but by having it as the main aspect of the series. Also, thats why I offered my 'OR' option, which you seemed to have ignored.

I don't think people who know each other should go in; look how it ruined Rex as a housemate when they put Nicole in. I do like the pair idea but I think the novelty value would wear off very quickly; unless they changed the pairs every week to keep it fresh but even then I think it would get boring.

I think thats a great idea! People can look forward to/get anxious about who their favourites are partnered with for the week. Makes it harder for HMs just to sail by - I really do think it should be made more of a gameshow and get the HMs working for the money! Weve seen it as a social experiment for 11 years, no harm in shaking things. Its been failing recent years for a reason.. same old (not that I mind the old system, Ive loved it but Id welcome tweaks :p)

I think it'd be good because it'd set obvious groups/divides straight away but then it's changing the format too much.

They should have done this for BB11.

No housemate should know any other housemate unless its just from auditions, in my opinion! the pair thing hmmm i think it would become very boring very quickly!

No one should know each other. I wouldn't mind a "pair" task thingy going on AFTER all the strangers have entered the house!

I just think it would be too much, I like the idea but not for Big Brother, it works for Biggest Loser but not for Big Brother

If it was a simple launch night twist maybe but not a whole series thing

That's a better way definately.

There can only be one winner (well in BB8 there were almost 2) so no team play. Informal alliances yes, though noms mustn't be fixed.

id quite like to see all normal contestants to go in to begin with and maybe at a certain point add new housemates that are from some of the housemates past e.g. a married mans ex girlfriend, or someone a housemate has had an affair with, an old emeny, or someone who knows some dirt on them to make them feel uncomfortable and watch them squirm.

No!! No one should know each other in the Big Brother house.

This isn't The Brady Bunch!

Big Brother has to be stricter. In terms of NO CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD.

No silly performances outside on a Friday night. And the living room area should be seperate from the house. So the housemates can't hear who is "favourite or hated" on an evicition night.

A few weeks before the final there should be one letter from home to each remaining housemate!
