Do the riders deserve everything they get?
I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for riders that are mauled by these animals. I hate it with a passion that they torment and ultimately kill the bull (in most cases)
I'm no animal activist or whatever you want to call it but bullfighting - I just can't find any sympathy at all for anyone injured

If your stupid enough to get into a ring with a bull you deserve everything thats coming to you imo.

The riders, and people who go to watch it, deserve for the bull to totally flip out and kill them all.
They are just doing their Job at the end of the day.. no one deserves to die trying to make a living for themselves

It just looks funny when they flipped about and that. Never give a second though about the sport or anything
The whole thing is just revolting! I don't know why it's still allowed to be honest!

No need to die. The bull ripping their bollocks off will do
That's a bit harsh to wish death or injury on them, surely the people who go and watch it are worse, the matadors themselves are just providing a service and satisfying the demand for bullfighting, it's a very skillful profession really

Kill probably is a bit harsh.
But I have no sympathy at ALL for anyone who has anything to do with bullfighting.

Yep, torment, torture and slaughter. Wonderful skill

Yes it's very skillful, Ernest Hemingway wrote a lot on the subject, he was fascinated by it

Theres a pic somewhere of one getting a horn right through his nads...ouch!
of course they deserve it, theyre practically taunting the bull and begging it to attack them. I don't like seeing big mighty animals belittled like that. Its extremely disrespectful to them and very cowardly as we all know who'd win in a fair fight.
But then again, millions of cows and sheep get slaughtered every week for food so.....perspective. I guess its a relative few.
But I would never go watch a show and nobody else should if they disagree with it. But its engrained in Spanish culture.

Animals for food are slaughtered humanely though. These bulls are literally tormented to death

How about hens who live in horrible conditions in cages barely bigger than their own bodies? That's hardly humane

LOL somebody hasn't seen secret video footage from animal rights activists

I'm not totally naive. I do know about caged hens and have seen more Hugh Fernly Whittingthingy videos than I wish to recall. I KNOW not all animals are treat the same and I know many many conditions are appalling.
THIS thread however is about bullfighting - cheers
People don't pay to go and cheer for battery hens or abbatoirs though do they?
Bullfighting is classed as a spectator sport and I just think in this day and age it's wrong!

no but I was making the point that animals are generally treated appallingly by humans on a major scale and this is just a very small part of that. It's high profile but really it's a drop in the ocean.

I think they should use guns to fight those bulls, it'd be safer for the bull fighters.

Cruelty to any animal, and such hellish cruelty designed to inflict pain and suffering - in the name of entertainment? Don't care if it's a tradition. Foxhunting can be viewed as a tradition - and it's equally as horrific and disgusting and those involved are heartless b's.

I think Bull fighting is the most obscene and inhumane thing. I have not a single gramme of sympathy with anyone who is involved with it or who pays to watch it should they get injured, slightly, seriously or fatally, they deserve all they get. It's a horrible and really sick activity. Driven by sick and rotten minds to satisfy a sick audience.

I understand tradition but a boxer has a choice to get in the ring or get out of it, a Bull does not though.

I agree, and I would say that bullfighting, as a skilfull art of cultural significance, is more easily justified than battery farming is, the only reason for that is to try and save a few pennies on your chicken..

Animals are indeed treat appallingly but I'm addressing bullfighting. Bulls with daggers in their neck and spears in their hide. Let me guess, they won't feel it? Of course not. Thats why they try to maul their attackers. For nothing.
I'm just as against battery hens. I'm just as against disgusting conditions on such farms. Cock fighting, dog fighting and all the rest. But, rightly so, such fighting is illegal here. Why it's right to literally torture these bulls to death, to pay to watch or to be paid to actually ride - well if you lose your nuts or rupture your liver - FECKING TOUGH!

and nobodies disagreeing with this. But your point highlights the fact that there is at least a chance for the bull to get some kind of revenge on his antagonist. Not saying its a fair fight but the human is at some risk of being seriously injured.
and Im not in favour of bullfighting myself but just think that on the grand scale of animal cruelty it only affects a tiny amount of animals. And its part in culture and national identity is actually a big deal to certain countries.
Actually the bull is apparently sold as meat once it has been killed, which has made me consider it even harder to get judgemental about it.
It might be hard for us to understand but the people who support bullfighting are very passionate about it, they dont consider it cruelty as such because they think of it as such an artistic ritual. They think of the bull as a worthy opponent and if the bull puts up a good fight it's carcass is paraded around the ring to applause from the crowd. This thread has made me read a bit more about it and it's actually pretty interesting

I reckon Kerry is like a bull in a china shop ;)
Well it just all seems very dangerous. The person/people have what's coming to them if the bull flips out.
Also the audience best be careful. I wouldn't take a front row seat. But can be dangerous wherever you sit too.
It's mankind to blame for this sick activity. Who just watch it for the thrill and hope that something tragic happens. What goes around comes around.

Don't feel strongly about bullfighting one way or another. It certainly wouldn't do anything for me, but I tend to get more angered by the abuse of children; be that as child soldiers or sex workers. However, I will say this, bulls are dangerous bastards. Know of quite a few cases of them turning on and killing their owners. I'm talking about dairy farms where there is one bull and a herd of cows. These bulls are impeccably well cared for for the most part - and definitely in the cases I'm thinking of. Yet they can turn because of a hard shower of rain. Dangerous bastards. They should inseminate all herds by AI and get rid of the buggers altogether.
