View Full Version : Desperate bids to get on BB!

THE Daily Star’s Big Brother golden tickets contest has sparked a stampede.

Fans so desperate to get their hands on a ticket – which could get them into the BB house – have even resorted to stealing them. Demand for the prized 120 golden tickets is enormous. It’s a clear sign the race to get on Channel 5’s new Big Brother series this summer is really hotting up.

BB fan Matt Oakes bought 217 copies of the paper on Saturday. He cleaned out several newsagents in his home town of Coventry. But his excitement turned to heartbreak when he found more than 70 golden ticket wallets had been nicked by sly BB addicts.
Matt, 27, said: “I had been been looking forward to the competition. But people have beaten me to it and stolen the envelopes. I am very upset. “But I guess it shows how desperate people are.”

Eagle-eyed fans may recognise Matt. The self-confessed bisexual virgin was a BB golden ticket winner in the Channel 4 KitKat stunt in 2006, missing out to model and housewife Susie Verrico, 48. Matt said: “I’m hoping this time the producers pick me.”
Copies of the Daily Star sold out on Saturday as readers rushed to snap up the golden ticket wallets. It’s expected that, as in 2006, some fans will put their golden tickets up for sale on eBay.

Anyone who gets a golden ticket with its unique number must follow instructions on the back and register the ticket. They will then be fast-tracked to the final stages of BB auditions this summer. If they impress and pass all the police and medical checks, they could then be picked as a housemate for the show’s first Channel 5 series which starts in September.

Or they fell out, as they always do. Much likelier scenario.

Lol. I heard that the golden tickets are with the television guide inside the newspaper? Mmm.

Lol aww I think I want Matt to go on. Through pure desperation.

What a sad act, nevermind relying on a ticket to boost your chance of getting in. Don't be a boring moron and the producers will pick you.

I'm hoping the Ticket Stunt is all part of a clever scheme to eliminate anyone who I want to call 'Professional Applicants'.
I'm not sure how it might be. I'm just hoping it is.

I'm sure Matt is a very nice young man and all but he is exactly who I'd like to see NEVER appear in the new BB series.

What WOULD be interesting to me are the dozen people who happen upon the ticket and otherwise may not bother applying.
Then you are narrowing it down to more likely sincere 'real people' genuinely unprepared and maybe unfamiliar with the program.

To me he just comes across as a media *****. BB doesn't need that anymore, nor did it really ever

I work in a shop and they are just tucked into the paper. They easily fall out. i have found 4 on the shop floor. and at the end of the day the left over papers only get sent back to the distributer. I was allowed to take the golden ticket wallets cos they would only get sent back.

Wouldn't mind that. Bex from BB9 was a desperate minge bag and was still highly entertaining. Hopefully this Matt guy will be too!

Oh. It's a bit silly that they can just drop out! Did you keep the ones that dropped on the floor? Did you open them? I think you should!

There are 120 golden tickets. I best most of them "accidently" will be chucked in the bin!

Yeah i opened them. all they said was sorry you are not a winner this time please try again. But at the end of the day when we close we package up the ones that didnt sell and send them back. we had about 30 odd. so really if every store does the same hundreds over the country will just be sent back. ones which potentially could contain the golden tickets.

Nope that looks to be about 217. I used to be a paper boy when I was 13 and that looks about the right size for the amount he says.

Oh damn. Maybe when they are sent back people who work at where they are distributed will open them.

I bet most will get lost though. Would be great if a complete randomer who is not the usual BB suspect gets a golden ticket.

Also there is 120 tickets but they are not all being dispatched on the same day are they? Don't the golden tickets run from 20th MAy to 20th June? Something like this. Which is 30 days.

So if they spread the golden tickets out evenly then it's like 120/30= Only 4 tickets a day!! :S

Oh wait.. Do they do Daily Star on a Sunday? If not there could be a few more tickets each day.

But there you go.. it's just a very small chance someone will get one.

I hope someone hopefully genuinely finds one and tells us on here! lol

I would open all the tickets you find though. If you get a winning ticket you could keep it for yourself, sell it, post it to someone! Maybe you could ring up for an interview with the Daily Star that you have a golden ticket? Would just be a shame to waste it. But yeah chances are you won't find one. Even if you buy a few hundred.

I bursted out laughing at the first line.

What Bollocks

They launched this 'Contest' on a horrible day, Saturday? Who buys the paper on a Saturday other than old men?

They should of started this on a Weekday, is there still Golden Tickets loose in the paper or did they just waste the whole 'twist' on the Saturday? :bored:

Either way it certainly didn't spark a massive nation-wide situation where everyone is eating eachother to get on the show, no one gives a ****** and that Golden Ticket thing flopped.

Besides - if they're really going to do this, then ******ing launch BB12 first!

Stop with CBB8, No one cares about that.
It's just stupid to do this and then be like 'LOL wait though, cus we've got 4 weeks of watching old washed up 'stars' sit in a house talking about how 'amazing' their dull lives are.'

lol thanks for the dancing elephant beastie :) as for the CBB i think it should be good with richard desmond behind channel 5 and with his links to 'celebs' with the star and ok magazine he should pull in some good names and some controvesial ones. Plus it give them a chance to try out some new ideas for the show to see how the public react to them without ruining the main show. Way i see it BB got thrown a lifeline so all fans should be gratefull its still around no matter what they do with it.

I agree. The normal series is usually a lot better than the CBB version. Be good to "test out the water" with the CBB version. I reckon the house will be filled with TOWIE characters. Wouldn't mind a few of them. Would also like a few credible celebrities like Boy George though! :)

Good luck Matt with auditioning for BB. Personally I would love to see you get on!

Oh I got a golden ticket today. I went out shopping with my mum. She likes the Ok magazine and that. So we bought that Ok bumper pack of magazines. Which there are 4 magazines inside. When I was looking through the Ok magazine I think it was.. a golden ticket fell out! I opened it but it said "sorry was not successful" or something like this?

Thought it was only in the Daily Star. Must be in the OK magazines too!

hey no tha wasnt the full 217 lol i couldnt get my arms round the whole lot and they were heavy man!! lol oh yeah im fully expecting 10x worse if i ever manage to get on just suprised as i didnt really expect any reaction from that little article but its all good, rather people have an opinion on me than none at all good or bad. Bring it on i say =) Yeah the golden ticket thing is done in OK magazine too think its every publication that richard desmond owns is doing it. not sure how many there are in total but best of luck to all going for it.
