I was wondering what would happen if someone under 18 got a golden ticket. Presumably they would either sell it or give it back to The Daily Star/Endemol and surely they would not be allowed to audition.

No , they wouldnt. I remember when they did it for bb7 and a three year old found a golden ticket in his kitkat and he had to hand the golden tickey back to channel 4.
