Greedy bitch on Deal or No Deal just now turned down £140,000 when she had £10,000 and £250,000 left... ended up going home with £10,000!

I'd do it.

It's a massive loss, yeah, but 10,000 is still a good enough consolation prize to warrant me going 50/50 on getting an extra 110,000.

£10k aint too bad of a consolation prize but compare to £140k, its nothing. Guess it boils down to what you want to do and how much you need, but seriously stupid if you got plans.

The offer was above the average too, so you had more to lose than gain!

10,000 is perfect for the budding man without an agenda. I'm one of those guys who would just want a nice flat and enough drinking money to last awhile if he or she won the lottery anyway. I'd still want to be doing something in music or film or something like that as opposed to just bum around on money for the rest of my life so a huge amount of money honestly wouldn't help me that much.

Id go for it, 10K would do me...

I would have risked it. You didn't come on the show with any money so if you still leave with more than you came with no matter what.

I don't think I'd go for the gamble... £140,000 is just too much to risk.

10 grand is nothing. I'd worry if I only had that in my bank account.

DOND is a gambling show and how brave you feel - it's not about greed. You'll never win the quarter mill by bailing out.

I'd probably take the £140k. A nice amount to set me up for a bit.

Can't miss what you never had, She went in with nothing and walked out with £10k which is not bad for an hour of choosing boxes.

Could not believe her, what a silly woman! That's pure greed.

Nothing wrong with being greedy for more money

I've been waiting to apply for around 3 months but the contestant appeal is still closed :bored:

I'd definitely deal, if you dont you're risking losing £130,000 to gain £110,000. I know there's not that much in it but still, surely the logical thing to do is deal.

I also think that I'd be less pissed off at dealing at £140k when I could have had £250k than I would be if I didnt deal and only walked away with £10k..

I wouldn't consider it hers unless it was in her hands, she only had a box. She walked out with ten grand which is nothing to sniff at, that £140k was just a number. I'd have been happy with the £10k, it's £10k more then she had when she went in.

I'd have taken the £140,000 - too good an offer to pass up as a certainty in favour of the gamble IMO.

I'd have taken 140k

It's weird...I've always said that I'd go on if the £250K was still on the board, but when, for what must be the first time ever, the banker offers more than the average, I struggle to find a reason for going on, as you have more to lose than you have to gain, so in theory the answer must be obvious? Having said that, the temptation of the jackpot would always be there for me, but with that much to lose, and less to gain, I think I would've taken it...

Vicky.

Chances of losing 130k. or gaining 110k.

I don't really understand the you have more to loose than you have to gain argument. Surely thinking about it logically that makes sod all difference?

Vicky.
24-05-2011, 09:05 PM
Actually, knowing my luck I would probably have took it if I was offered less anyways. Say 100k...still would deal. Unless I was a lucky twat like that woman not long ago who was left with 50k+250k. Then it would definitely be worth the risk.

I think she was more focused on being a 'winner', like Suzanne was. Like she said, she was there to play the game and she did.

I admired that she went the whole way, I really wanted her to get the £250,000.

Lee.

No doubt about it, I would have dealt on the 140k!

Maia
24-05-2011, 09:13 PM
She probably should've dealt...whether she went with £250k or £140k she still would've been up there in the top winners.

Even so she was brave to gamble, it's a shame she didn't win the £250. But y'know, £10k isn't to be sniffed at

Thing is you can win in different ways - dealing at the highest offer, or going all the way and hoping your box contains the highest sum than all your offers. Dont get hook on the £250k, its very unlikely youll have it (espicially if the game previous brought it to the table!)

Tbh Id probably have dealt at £45k (2 offers before the £140k offer), yepp Id have 'lost' but Id have won £35k more than she ended up doing :amazed:

She must have been well-off for it not to be such a big downfall for her, I have a bit more respect for the value of money and is probably why Id chicken-out

Should be the same chance all the time, if the games not fixed :)

Looking at the games individually yeah, but looking at how many times its brought to the table in the row decreases the probability. Its 1/22 x 1/22 (= 0.00207), whereas its more likely to not have it twice in a row: 1/22 x 21/22 (= 0.04339)
