Inhaling cigarette smoke is no worse than inhaling car smoke.

Smokers stink and make others stink with their smoke. Smoking also causes asthma and lung, neck, throat and mouth cancer.
Exhaust fumes do not.

I love how they make out its all about health.
No dears...its so you LOOK bothered about peoples health. If you were actually bothered, you would just stop selling cigarettes. But they give you too much $$$ to do that dont they
Doesnt affect me, but if they start putting bans on outside places in england, not a chance I'm listening to them.

Yeah smokers can be nice but generally its a disgusting addiction. Why someone would willingly inhale thousands of harmful chemicals on a daily basis like that is something I will never get. :/

this is absolutely ****ing ridiculous. I am so bored of non-smokers getting hysterical about this exaggerated health risk as if a tuft of smoke is going to suddenly comatise you. We get it, you think you're better than smokers. I know who I'd rather spend time with

I was just saying what I think. Go ahead smoke if you want to just don't expect me to be all rosy and happy about it.
On second thought though, outlawing smoking in the whole of Central Park is kinda stupid tbh. :/

Because they done some quick math in their head and realized that a few decades of continually doing something that gives them pleasure was worth the relatively little in comparison years you are knocking off your life?
I mean ... why do you eat processed foods, refined sugar and - I'm guessing - the odd take away? They do absoloutely nothing for you and make you feel horrible. Their also full of harmful chemicals you ingest on a daily basis. I quit that crap at the same time as I quit fags and eating natural fruit and veg all the time has made me feel noticeably mentally better than what quitting the fags has done.
The irony of this being in New York is hysterical. Walking through Time Square is like sucking in a Benson. Central Park is a massive, massive place where it's quite easy to have a cigarette without chocking others to death around you. This is a silly move.
Fags are crap though. The most gradually destructive drug you can possibly do and it doesn't even **** you up.
Scarlett.

Wait, 2.5 miles long park of open air...and smoking there will somehow cause damage to peoples health? I think its big enough somehow to avoid smokers
Yet in the crowded streets there will be dozens of smokers packed into the crowds...makes sense! :B

I'm sorry I just think cigarettes are more of a detriment to a person's health than the odd processed meal or takeaway. My brother's been smoking for about ten years? And its already aged him, stained his teeth and given him a terrible cough. All a takeaway/processed meal will do to you is make you fat.
I better shutup now anyway because me getting militant about being healthy is so hypocritical its unreal.

Of course smoking is more damaging to physical health in the long run but if you think all bad food does is make you fat then ... fookin hell.

Your comment is real sense.
Also a totally open bus shelter near me, only with a roof,no sides and just the back part of it has a sign saying smoking is not allowed in this shelter, but take 2 steps out of the shelter and then people can smoke, really stupid.
I don't smoke but if people want to then I have no objection to them doing so as long as they blow the smoke away from my face.
I know when I am in Scotland and walking round the glens I love having someone who smokes with me, keeps the midges away for sure.

Arrant nonsense. Its not 1984 Big Brother. Your simplistic view illustrates both a lack of knowledge on business and politics.

I dont understand how they can ban people for smoking over other things like I dont like seeing really obese people in public eating because it makes me feel sick but they wouldn't ban that would they.
So why do smokers get penalised?

if they wanted us to stop smoking they would, but as vicky said, they make too much tax from it. stopping people from smoking outside isn't going to help anyone's heath that much, is it?

No you will still be hooked
but not able to Smoke in Every place.
On London Local TV News
they showed many that want the NYC Law
over here.
For Example
The South Banks Arts area was
viewed and they now Ban Smoking Inside and Outside
The Bars and Food hall.

Firstly, exhaust fumes do most certainly cause health problems. Secondly, Obesity causes MUCH more of a strain on the NHS (I understand this particular thread concerns the USA, but I'm not in the USA...) and whereas sugary, fatty food is not taxed to the hilt, tabacco is. Tobacco tax raises around the same amount of revenue as it costs to run the NHS annually. Wonder who's going to make up the shortfall when everyonel gives up smoking?

They dont stop smoking all together because then there would be so much illegal trading of them it would be unreal. The only possibility weed may become legal is because of this reason. It is a gateway drug. People buy weed and then drug dealers convince them to bigger things and thats how it gets out of control. If they made cigarettes illegal this would happen much more and England's/Anywheres drug culture would grow rapidly.
