You're prefect for individual subjects? That's weird, we just had general prefects, they didnt do anything, most just did it so it would look good on their personal statement, some did it for the little badge. I never bothered applying because the teachers used to hate me in year 10 & 11 so there was no point

Prefecting in my school is like totally retarded. :joker:

First of all, about 3 quarters of Year 11 are prefects so there are like too many of us.

Secondly our 'jobs' were to stand my doors of certain buildings before school and during lunch/break to stop people entering and ****. No one actually bothered to stop people lmfao. :joker: And about 2 months after we were allocated posts for prefect duty, the novelty had worn off and everyone stopped doing it. That and the Senior Prefects stopped bothering on checking if we were doing our jobs.

I was a prefect but me and my friend never bothered to sign up, then we got jealous of everyone getting green badges so we went to see our head of year and just said we weren't there when they were given out. She just said okay, had us sign our names on a form and gave us badges. Then everyone was like wtf you weren't there when they were given out and we were like:

The head prefect at our school is a girl, which caused controversy cos we go to an all boys school. (We have female sixth formers)

Everyone hates her even more than they did.

Personally I think it's a bit sexist. People wouldn't have a problem with a guy who has only been at the school for a year (if they came to our sixth form from another school) yet they have a problem with her.

I just know my best friend is gonna go for prefect in Year 11 so imma make new friends just in case.

We just have 10 prefects who do Jobs like cleaning up,emptying bins, collecting absent forms and guarding the doors,But being a prefect is social suicide in our school

Our prefects don't even do anything. No one even cared until this year. :bored:

Year 11's try to pretend they are but I know who is and who isn't.

The one time they threatened someone with a detention (this was Year 7) a kid in my class just shouted "GO ****ING KILL YOURSELF YOU STUPID WANKER. YOU'LL NEVER GET LAID." and walked off. :joker:

Our school doesn't do 'Subject Prefects' never heard of it, and I have been to an English Boarding School in England.

[well I played Bully].

But I do have 'Authority' in school, I was the class prefect - I still am, I just don't wear the little gay badge or tie anymore because it made me look stupid, and I was voted/elected by the year to represent our year on the Student Council which is epic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Edward%27s_Secondary_School#School_prefects

Members of the student body are elected as school prefects. St. Edward's Disciplinary Committee delegates the execution of various punishments to the school's council of prefects. Prefects are also responsible for the leadership of their fellow students in sport and academics. The House Captains and Games Captains are a part of the council.

"the execution of various punishments"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eton_College#Corporal_punishment

House Captains were permitted to cane miscreants over the seat of the trousers. This was a routine occurrence, carried out privately with the boy bending over with his head under the edge of a table. Less common but more severe were the canings administered by Pop in the form of a "Pop-Tanning", in which a large number of hard strokes were inflicted by the President of Pop in the presence of all Pop members. The culprit was summoned to appear in a pair of old trousers, as the caning would cut the cloth to shreds and leave the boy's buttocks bleeding. This was the most severe form of physical punishment at Eton.
