Amy Winehouse has checked herself into rehab, reportedly for alcohol addiction.

The 'Back To Black' singer visited the Priory in London for an assessment and was urged to remain at the centre by doctors.

"Amy Winehouse has embarked on a treatment programme at the Priory Clinic," her spokesperson said.

"She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors' advice."

Amy's father Mitch had reportedly urged his daughter to visit the centre because he was concerned about her drinking.

It is also claimed that the singer drank a small bottle of vodka from a nearby off-licence on the way to the centre.

"In true, Amy-style, she stopped off for one last hurrah and bought a mini bottle of Smirnoff," a supposed friend told the Daily Mail.

Snoop Dogg recently suggested that he tried to "lift up" Winehouse when she struggled with her addictions in the past.

Winehouse was last month reported to have told friends that she wants a baby with film director Reg Traviss, who she is also said to want to marry.

She made a couple of good songs that are now history and will never be good again. That said I spent some time at the priory in London and its a lovely place.

The Priory have just fitted revolving doors marked 'Amy'.

She will never be right. She'll die washed up as the body can only take so much abuse. It's sad as she's a great singer and songwriter - and more or less rewrote the book regarding modern pop, opening doors to the likes of Adele and Duffy, but this will just linger on til she dies.
