EA has formally announced FIFA 12, "a revolutionary not evolutionary" next step for the series.

The crux of the "transformation" stems from a Player Impact Engine that EA has been beavering away at for two years.

"The Player Impact Engine processes decisions continuously in real-time at every point of contact on a player's body to create an infinite variety of natural and believable outcomes in every collision," EA explained.

These physics also apply to injuries, as the game analyses "the force of the collision and impact on the body". Send a non-fully recovered player out at your own peril.

We've already seen the results of the Player Impact Engine in a leaked FIFA 12 video.

However, the Impact Engine will only power the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. FIFA 12 will also be released on PC, Wii, PS2, 3DS, PSP and the iOS trinity of platforms.

Complimenting the Impact Engine will be precision dribbling for tight control, tactical defending and pro player intelligence. The latter bestows rudimentary personalities upon footballers. Kaka will apparently be "more likely - and quicker - to pick out a run from a teammate farther away than a player with poorer vision".

Elsewhere, the Career mode will expand to tell "real-world storylines" that involve player morale, on-pitch form and league position.

There's a "brand new", customisable menu system tailored towards your choice of arena player, Virtual Pro and favourite club.

Matches gain a "real-world broadcast look and feel", "dramatically improved lighting", "more authentic crowds" and a new default camera angle.

On PS3, up to seven people can play FIFA 12 together offline. On Xbox 360, that number is four.

Online, up to 22 people can play FIFA 12 together in full 11 vs. 11 matches.

They need to put more focus into Career mode, that's been the problem over the last few years it hasn't improved that much.. Player interactions, Board room, more detailed transfer system, and cup celebrations need to be improved as well.. they should show the players walking up the steps of the stadium etc and have commentary when it's happening etc

Do you even play it? :joker:

my brother used to have it and I played it every so often then. It was so boring though. I hated the game. Its essentially the same game they re-release every year with maybe better defined hairstyles on the characters of some other pointless bull****.

There are always ways to improve it though it's never going to be perfect

Niall

But you have to admit, nearly nothing is different when they bring out the new version is it?

Graphics improve every year. There is always a change in the gameplay. Tackles have improved.

And Fifa 12 looks completely different than any other fifa.

I actually love football games (though I hate the sport) yet every year this seems to be the same thing. :joker:

:amazed: Can't wait for this, was just thinking about when we'd start getting videos and info. on it yesterday actually.

And I agree with Novo on the Career Mode being the main bit that needs improving, it's what I play on the most and there's still so much wrong with. The main thing I'd want changed is the transfer system, making them even more realistic with being able to offer contracts to players you've got in on loan, and being able to sell your higher rated players because it's ****ing annoying when you want to see someone like Torres but nobody bids for him because of his rating.

The only thing that annoyed me about Fifa 11 was that the younger plays ratings don't rise enough.. Even the ones you play regularly only go up like 1 point on their overall per season.

It's a yearly game. What do you expect? It's natural for it to progress adding little tweaks every year. People lap up COD and that's pretty much the same thing every year but it's expected so nobody says a word.

I'm not into them at all myself but they are amazing games.

Ah yeah this as well actually, I've managed to get Lukaku up to 78 now but that's after about 7 seasons playing him in my starting 11 most games and he's 27/28 now, I think he'd realistically be around 83/84 rating by the time he's 24 in real life if he keeps playing like he has been but yeah this is really annoying.

FIFA 12 will break the £50 price barrier this year, it has been revealed.

The latest instalment of the yearly football franchise will be sold at a recommended retail price (RRP) of £54.99, according to MCV.

However, FIFA 12: Ultimate Edition, which will feature the Ultimate Team DLC and one card pack, will be sold at £44.99 when pre-ordered at GAME or Gamestation.

"The FIFA franchise is always one of the best selling games of the year and we are delighted to offer this exclusive version of FIFA 12 to our customers," said GAME and Gamestation PR Neil Ashurst.

"The FIFA Ultimate Team gold packs are a fantastic resource for any gamer, allowing them to play with the very latest squads, perfectly mimicking real-life. GAME and Gamestation are offering football fans the opportunity to change any score for free."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was one of the first games to be priced at £55 when it was released in 2009, a move that sparked controversy amongst consumers.

However, high price points are usually discounted significantly on launch day, with FIFA itself being the subject of supermarket price wars in the past.

FIFA 12 will be released on consoles, handhelds and PC later this year.

Ultimate team is overrated

Sure the price will be 50 quid but thats just the RRP people will still sell it for 39.99 and Asda/Tescos will sell it for 29.99 on the night it comes out

I use it for Career mode mainly.. i take it far to seriously at times can remember when i drew 2-2 in the champions league against Roma and dropped all 11 players for the next game and used a reserve team

Is there any way to play a career with just ... you know ... the team? I can't get into this control only one player thing because it actually takes an understanding of football that I don't have.

I'm wrecking the gaf with Andy Carroll. My new hero. I bet his ponytail helps with those all important headers.

I can't afford it yet. I think I had a bet on the football every day last week and made sure the returns were around £40, just so I'd be able to afford it on release, but I lost all of them. If I didn't do that I'd have an extra tenner towards it now.

Football Manager comes out in a few weeks too.

Forget what I said before I've just been over and bought it.

An I'll accept you once my internets back up Eoin

Locke.
03-10-2011, 05:09 PM
This is quality, the players you loan out actually improve on their rating unlike Fifa 11. And you can set up scouting networks.

And Stu, when setting up your career mode you have to click on Player/Manager instead of just Player
