I think they become modern in around 2003/2004. I'm surprised to see that they had BlackBerries and iPhones in 2005! :o

What do you think?

The iPhone wasn't invented until 2007 :conf2:

Oh, right. I mean, we had phones of that sort back then. :)

You'd be suprised in the comparisons of a typical 'phone in, say, the year 2000, to a 'phone in 2004! :o

It actually amazes me sometimes how much technology has advanced. Like 10/15 years ago things like iPhones and iPads were things of the imagination and could never happen or just something on star trek or something.

Exactly. 2004 was when we hit a bomb in 'phones. Just eye-shattering.

Blackberries :bored:

They're all right - iPHONES/iPODS/HTCs are MUCH better. The internet on a BB is just ****ed up - it is actually ****.

I'm already healthy - which is why I started going to the gym. ;)

I eat plenty of those. Trust me, lad.

iPhones are alright but far too expensive if you get Pay As You Go, which I would cos it actually feels like mine and I hate contract. But theyre just iPod Touches with internet everywhere and calls/texting which isn't worth the ****ing massive extra amount you pay, especially for like 32gb

I think the 'modern' smartphone came about with the release of the iPhone in '07. I mean, it revolutionised the way we think about our phones. Compare post-iPhone phones to those that preceded it, its like looking at two completely different eras.

Nokias were still big in 2005 so, hardly 2003/2004.

I'd say 2006 when Cameras became a massive feature and virtually every phone had one, and people stopped using their phones for calling and just texting and picture taking.

2009 was when sh*t got interesting though.

iPhone's are brilliant. All my friends who have had Blackberry's have had problems with them.

BlackBerries can be ****, tbh. My dad has an iPHONE 4, which I'm sure is about a million times better. The screen is easier to "touch", it's easier to navigate...it's just better, really.

I don't like Blackberries, my thumbs ache just looking at the keypad. Having the full keypad set kind of negates the point of the smaller gadget in some ways.

Got my first mobile in about 1998 had some classics along the way then got sick of carrying one about 2 years ago and threw it in the bin!
Very liberating .mobile phones invade your privacy.
People kick up a fuss at the suggestion of RFID chips but willingly give up their privacy by sticking tracking devices in their pockets it makes no sense to me.
