Technology forum?

I know this may sound silly but whenever I make a thread on something to do with technology - e.g the new iPhone being revealed - I never know where to put it. I was wondering if there could be a forum for that or if the film/video games forum could be changed slightly so it can also play host to these sort of threads?

Lion so far hasn't impressed me that much. Some of the things they've tried to take away are silly - like they wanted to remove the little blue light from the dock that tells you when a program is running. That'd drive me up the wall. :laugh:

Yeah they've actually made it the default when you install it. Thank God you can switch them back on via system preferences. :laugh:

What I've seen already has somewhat impressed me. I like the idea of Mission Control (the fancy name for a new version of Exposé) which lets you zoom out and see the Dashboard, all your programs and spaces in the exposé style view. But others I'm not that keen on. They're going to replace the applications folder with this thing called 'Launchpad' which presents all your apps in a similar fashion to the way an iPad would. :conf2:

I've put up a thread in Tibb Towers highlighting this, I think a sub section or altering the name of an existing section to include technology is acceptable. We'll have to wait for an Admin to make the final decision though as mods can't change or add sections to the site.

..LOL Arista..if he doesn't have a hi tech phone, it's probably because he doesn't think these are an important thing to spend your money on, in terms of gadgets etc..so long as they do what phones need to do as basics...and they are very expensive and a drain on your budget...(yes I know there are 'deals' Arista..)...but on the topic of phones, I do think a technology forum would be a good thing because these things are a big thing for lots of people and it would be good to have a forum to discuss any latest stuff in...

..I also think seperate movies and games forums would be better as well because both are very popular and would merit both still being busy..and it would also be easier to find things and see if a thread had already been made on something etc if they were separate...

..slightly OT...I'm glad you're running for PM as you are the perfect person to sort all of this out for us..you know where everything goes, when it's not quite right etc...I think you would be a very active and helpful PM and as we're not all as organised and observant as you, you would keep us all on the right track.....

Yes, that is on one subject. If for example someone who is 40 creates a topic in general chat that really should only be for the eyes of a mature audience, they can unknowingly get into a debate with a child. Discussing what could be a risque subject. Or they could say something, thinking that the person they are saying it to is of mature age, when infact they are still in school. An over 18s forum would stop that from happening, or at least remove any liability from anyone other than the child that lied about their age.

You could add Technology into the title of the Films, DVD and Video Games section.

Fair enough, that just seems to be a game some like to play on here, and is one i've fallen for many times.

I'm not against a Technology forum - it might be quite fun and lead to some good threads. They only thing I worry about with creating loads of different forums is that everything gets spread about too much on the forum and people can't find things.

Also there is the possibility that it wouldn't be used enough to justify having a separate forum, and this would actually reduce the amount of discussion about the subject as threads got moved from, say, General Chat to some unvisited corner of the forum.
