I was obsessed with this track when I first got Confessions on a dancefloor. Ive recently fallen in love with it again for personal reasons. It is exquisite.

-agrees with Forbidden Love (the 2005 track, iirc there's one from the early 90s too)-
Beautiful Stranger wasn't really that big, it was just known for soundtrack duties.

I wouldn't say that Forbidden Love was underated, It was a popular song on tour and one of the highlights (After the highly controversial Live To Tell).
I do agree with This Used To Be My Playground, It was totally forgottern about after the Erotica era.
Other underated Madonna singles would be: Angel, Gambler, Dear Jessie, Ill Remember, Oh Father and many more...
Songs like True Blue, Cherish and Take A Bow are onlu seen as underated as Madonna refuses to sing them on tour.

I wouldn't say that Forbidden Love was underated..
well proper Madonna fans may know and love it but the general public won't be very familiar with it because it wasn't rated enough to even be a single.
Take a bow, Dear Jessie and Oh father are definitely worthy of more recognition.

Human Nature, one of her best. I can listen to that beat for hours.

It is such a shame that it was not released as a single but it isnt very single like imo. Songs like I Love New York, Let It Will Be or Like It Or Not are more single like, imo.
It is such a shame she does not perform them live. Dear Jessie has slighly corny lyrics and was writtern for Patrick Leonard's daughter but would be great live with a modern beat (See the Roller Girl cover). Madonna is strongly against performing Take A Bow live as it reminds her 'of leaving the music world'. Oh Father works better with a melody (ie Blond Ambition Tour) and Madonna isnt fond of melodies.
Human Nature is one of my fave Madonna songs as the lyrics mean alot to me.

I love Madonna but although it was a massive hit, I get really surprised the way people I know dismiss 'Live to tell'. When I have Madonna on, that is never really asked for or often brushed aside, to me it is a fantastic song and one she performs brilliantly.
She really though can do no wrong for me, she is an amazing artiste.

Rescue Me utter yes. It was a shame there was no music video. It is such a underated song (dispite charting at number 2) and with a video it would of been fierce!
You'll See the sequal to Take A Bow, one of her best vocal songs.

They are very similar in tone. Both beautiful and proof that she can actually sing. In fact, she always sounds good in her many slower songs.

Im actually not keen on it relative to all her other hits

Critical opinion of the song widely varies as evidenced by the fact that it was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song as well as for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Original Song in 2002. Great song though.

It was big at the time in 1999. It was in the chart for ages (ages for that time in the history of charts) and was always on the radios. :nono:
Mine would have to be Drowned World/Substitute For Love. Such an epic tune.

A slighly debatable choice is Revolver <3. If Madonna bothered to premote at and had a music video it would of been a HIT. The David Guetta remix is better and would of been more successful. Also if the Celebration single did not use the bad remix for the video it would of been bigger too (And more promo obvs).

Forbidden Love (remember hearing it live on the Confessions tour, sooo good!), Like It or Not, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You and American Life are all underrated I'd say. I know AL was successfull over here but it flopped in America and it's never got any proper recognition.

Revolver doesnt even sound like Madonna but I like
American life Im not overly keen on myself. She's made so many great songs I can afford to be picky.

I think you're unusual because most Madonna fans I know see it as a misfire of an album. Younger fans seem to like it more. Maybe because it was their first real introduction to her.
But using Mirwais again after Music was a mistake IMO. His sound was tired. Plus it was a concept album and I wasn't keen on the whole Che guevara thing.

American Life is underated, There are a few of her most personal and meanful songs ever in there. Mother & Father, Nothing Fails, Nobody Knows Me, I'm So Stupid and American Life are all great and meanful tracks. Hollywood still challenges the American Dream 'Trip the station, change the channel!' in reference to propoganda of the war. Snobbed in America because of it's 'anti-patriotic' views. Nothing Faills would of been a better lead single (Then American Life etc).
The sound is a bit like the Music sound I have to agree (With Music somewhat recreating the Ray Of Light sound). But I don't see that in the dance songs on the album.

Technically It's So Cool dates bakc to 2002 as it was orignally a demo from the American Life sessions (Accustic versions featured Laudes in the chior).
And thank god she is working on her new album! I have been so desperate for a new album!
