The trailer indicates it will be over-produced historical b******s, starring the young, the beautiful and the totally untalented, in a CGI sceenscape, so I'll give it a miss ..... ;)

I will give it a try.

No need to be so negative - before you know this.

I was not disappointed. After 90 or so minutes, there it was - a reference to England. Even in a historical drama, set at a time when England didn't exist, they have to shove it in.

What did you expect from a historical drama in which the Arthurian characters say "yeah" and "OK"?

A dumbed down aberration of the highest order.

When you think of the muck and squalor of sixth-century Britain, you might not picture these clean-limbed, clear-skinned youths with their gleaming smiles and artfully tousled hair. The impossibly blond and ludicrously pretty Arthur (Jamie Campbell-Bower) is so waif-like you fear he might blow away in a strong breeze. He and his adopted brother Kay (Peter Mooney) look like they’ve taken a wrong turn after their RADA graduation ceremony and ended up in medieval Cornwall instead of Hollyoaks. Arthur in particular has perfected a look of wide-eyed pixieish confusion, a sort of one-size-fits-all expression which he employs whether frolicking with a local lass on the riverside or facing a roomful of armed men and his patricidal sorceress half-sister threatening to kill him.

The language is funny too. While most fantasy-type things overdo the cod-Shakespeare stuff to make it sound Olde Worlde, Camelot has gone the other way: have everyone talk exactly as though they’re drinking skinny mochaccinos in Richmond Caffé Nero. “How was it?” Kay asks Arthur of his talk with Merlin revealing his true destiny as son of the murdered King Uther Pendragon and heir to the throne of all Britain. “Fine”, shrugs Arthur.

As if The Tudors wasn't ridiculous enough, here comes Camelot – the S Club Game of Thrones Juniors of Saturday night TV

Just when we thought we were out, they pull us back in. Two months after The Tudors staggered off on its 16th century pantomime cow, along clumps Camelot to remind us of the enduring appeal of the appallingly rendered historical epic. Without recourse to pie charts, sudden noises or words of more than nineteen syllables, it's difficult to convey just how stupid this 10-part Irish-Canadian production is.

Although it strayed a lot from historical fact,I actually enjoyed The Tudors and even like J.Rhys-Meyer's portrayal of Henry V111. I kind of hoped they would continue and do the Stuart dynasty too. However this 'Camelot' is a lot weaker in production and watching it again this morning,I doubt very much I am going to like it.

Like Kerry I will stick with Merlin.

Camelot obeys several of the basic rules of the genre in its modern form. There must be sex, for one thing, and not just discreet sinking-out-of-the-frame-type sex, but the nipple-flashing, buttock-revealing kind. So we first encountered Arthur as he lay stark naked on a river bank with an obliging local wench, trailing an approving finger across her haunch. There will also be bad language, or rather language pointedly at odds with the cod High Style that used to be de rigueur in these things. When an onlooker doubts that Arthur will be able to pull the sword from the stone, Merlin doesn't say, "Begone, low churl." He says, "Piss off." There will also be – and this really makes it tricky to control the giggling – a lot of Glowery Gothic, a style of acting in which everyone looks incandescently furious all the time.

Camelot, a monumentally dreary and cloth-eared "reimagining" of Arthurian myth.

In striving for gravitas and camp, it's about as convincing as Trevor McDonald reading the news while dressed as Carmen Miranda.

And as a sop to the youth demographic, the callow Arthur resembles a cross between Tim Minchin and some gormless middle-class hipster idiot from an iPhone advert.

It's a :nono:. then ..... :joker:

Just finished the first season and it has been incredible. I thought during episode three that it appeared predictable and the episode felt weak after the two before it.

I stuck with it & I'm so pleased I did, it gets real tense towards the end of the season and there's some brilliant twists along the way.

Eva Green plays Morgan so well she stole the show for me.

Don't think I'll bother with the show now. Just read it's been cancelled, I'm sick of getting into shows that end before they have a chance to finish the story.

On June 30, 2011 Starz announced it was not going to order new seasons of Camelot, citing significant production challenges, predominantly scheduling conflicts with some members of the cast, including Joseph Fiennes, Jamie Campbell Bower and Eva Green.
