Not a thread to cause a riot, but being a BB fan myself since the very first season I can honestly say that after all the hype for BB12 on C5 I am really not that bothered anymore.

It still sits in my mind that there isn't much else you can do with BB now that is unique or different enough to revive it back to the great show it once was.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. I'm happy its coming back and I will watch it, I'm just not getting my hopes up.

Half Half in my opinion. I will watch to see if its good but if it is horrible I might give up.
Especially if things like the theme tune go because it will sort of seem like it has no connection to the old one.
The more rumours that come out thought the more unexcited I am.
Thinking about it now I probably would have been satisfied leaving it dead and just having the dvd's to re-watch.
I hope it is good though, but I doubt it will still have any of the aspects which draw me to it emotionally so my like of it could die out. E.g. Davina, Theme tune ect.

I'm happy for it to be back as I was sad when it ended on C4 but I really want them to take it back to basics and make it more of a social experiment again instead of a gimmicky show used by wannabe celebs as a platform to get themselves noticed. I want to see a decent cross-section of society as housemates, not a houseful of bimbos/dullards.
So yeah, I'm happy about the new series, but am dubious at the same time.

No, not yet there isnt anything at the moment that is interesting enough for it to grab my attention, whereas this time last year (or the same time period before a launch) I would be checking for news on a few sites....

Not particularly, I still think C5 will **** it up massively

Yes, very much so. No matter how poor it'll be to older series', I'm going to just enjoy it and not bother comparing. :joker:

I'm not confident about them getting decent HMs, tasks etc. but I'm still gonna like it.

I am excited to see the new housemates - if they seem interesting (i.e. not all TOWIE/Geordie Shore types) I'll be interested.

Then if we see they aren't stuck with the Ofcom censorship I will be even happier!

I am really looking forward to it, I want to see what they do with it and I hope it's a big success for Channel 5.
The programming went a bit off in the last 3 series but that was the production teams fault.I hope they rejuvinate it by taking on board all the elements that made it a success at the start.
It's still a great idea and with fresh minds working on it maybe this will be the springboard for a good many years of BB yet.

I cant wait! but what i dont like is all the useless speculation and people claiming well thats it im not watching after hearing some baseless claim about whats happening with the show.
Why not just wait and see what its like before making your mind up?

Same here I used to HATE big brother before then when cbb 2010 started I was forced to watch it and I ended up liking. It then my brother got me to watch it in the summer and I LOVED it when the series finished I was so upset that I watched every single bb series since bb 5 in the space of 3 months.
And this is gonna be my first bb on tibb.

If 10 people dont care then why are they in the BB12 section? lol

If you are not at all interested then why come in here?

If you're not interested in BB12 why not go look in the previous years forums :)

Im not excited by the prospect but intrigued to see where they take it. Which in itself makes it more interesting than if ch4 were still doing it.

Im hoping they will put a new spin on it and make it exciting to watch again. Not likely, but we can but hope.

And there's no going back to what it was in the beginning. That would seem too boring now. Plus the people who apply do so for very different reasons now so it will never be the experiment it was originally intended. Especially with a £500k prize.

Personally I want it to become an all out gameshow and fight for the big prize. Cutthroat. Screw social experiments.

Because the question was there to be answered - and I'm in 'here' because it shows on the 'latest posts' and I wanted to see the poll results - ie: what the thoughts of other members were about BB12.

I don't particularly care about many things in life: it doesn't mean I don't have an opinion - abeit not a fevered one - or a passing interest.

There you go, another few questions answered.

Kind of. Yes, in that I'd rather we did have BB than didnt have it this summer and I'll watch it and talk about it on here, but I'm not really excited about it or anything although I'm not really one who takes part in all the build up hype anyway, I just watch it & care about it when it's on

Certainly from my time on this forum and that's only from June last year, while many issues and topics are dealt with on the forum, far and away the biggest activity covered BB and more and more people were posting and making threads as to BB.

The side panel with the latest threads was constantly changing so from even just that element that the forum will again, as Corin would say from BB11,be really buzzin must make most members really glad BB will be back.

I have said,I am really excited to see it coming back, well, really it will never have been away, but I guess because of the name of the forum,it was why I joined this forum in the first place while BB11 was on, so people must be at least very pleased even that it's still going to be on TV and also know that will be really good for this forum overall too.

I care about Big Brother the format.

How much I care about the forthcoming series will depend on what they do to it and who they pick to be in it. That's true very year. I'm glad I have something to be apprehensive about.

That won't happen with a public vote. BBUK is a popularity contest. Scheming gameplayers do not prosper.

they could with 1 simple rule change allow nomination discussions because the goody goody ones would be up a lot more and possibly out early ect

If it's a massive success - win.
If it's a spectacular car crash - win.

If it's mediocre I'll ignore it and watch something else or get a life - win.

if they took a couple of years off Id care more.
Right now I dont have any high hopes for it. im not ermm....woo hoo waiting for it to start or anything. Especially not after the past few series of all the garbage C4 & BB allowed the HMs to get away with. Ill end up watching it but will more than likely watch the first week every day then take my time to watch the rest. Unless Im actually into it.

I'm excited, but also kind of nervous. In the last few years, before every series of Big Brother on Channel 4, you kind of knew what to expect to happen before it even started. However with this whole new channel running it and new people behind it i'm kind of worried about how it will turn out.

i would like to see BB go down the route of the American Big Brother where it is an all out competition for the prize and very much a social and tactical game. People can openly talk about nominations and create alliences, weekly competions for head of house/immunity/ and competition for what the americans called power of veto. But i would still like the public to be able to decide who is evicted each week and possibly making other decisions such as food/tasks/shopping budget/party themes ect.

I agree. They best be careful who they pick to be part of BB. Some will be too thick to get the "jist" of the game. 500 grand is up for grabs. Can't be just a plain sailing series.
