Think there is a thread similar to this but can't find it so have started a new one!
I've got 2 pets - a dog and a cat.
Missy is a 3 year old Dachshund cross with a Beagle. She's the sweetest dog I've ever known but is a grumpy sod and doesn't like cats or dogs, which makes it difficult to walk her without embarrasing myself on a daily basis as there are a lot of dog walkers around my area - I'm hoping she'll get better as she gets a little bit older but there's no sign of that yet. We can't let her off the lead because she tries to ecape every time and we spend a whole day patrolling the fields looking for her. We gave her a Christmas jumper once for a laugh and she sulked all day when we put it on. She managed to get out one day when we left the backdoor open and we saw her run into the forest and run back out 5 minutes later without the christmas jumper on

Alfie is my 8 year old cat - he had a sister called Maisy but she went missing 3 years ago :( He doesn't come inside and lives quite happily in a bush in the back garden. He's very fluffy and is constantly shedding hair all over the place but he's probably on his way out now due to his cancer (being a white cat it was inevitable that he'd eventually get cancer due to how common it is in white cats). He's very lovely and just as much a part of the family as the dog, even if he does practically live outside. He had white kittens and we practically gave one to every other person in the street, so for a while there were loads of white cats roaming the streets and now that he's getting old they are like his little gang, looking after him.

We have 2 dogs, Curly and Sophie. We used to have 3 but Jake (the collie on the right) died last year :(
Curly is around 11 and Sophie is around 13, they're both rescue dogs

This is my cat, Dizzy, she's 6 years old I think, maybe 7. We got her when she was just four weeks old from a rescue shelter and she had blue eyes when she was that small, here's a pic:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/229200_1953821015971_1556052410_32084723_6833371_n .jpg
 She lost one of her eyes in a fight which was very traumatic, she'd never been in one before and unfortunately this ginger cat scratched her eyeball and it burst in front of my mum later on in the day (we didn't know she'd been in a fight until that had happened and saw all the hair on the back steps... :( so sad) which was awful for my mum. She's really fat now and is so lazy that she lies down on her side when she eats pmsl but I think that's because of the eye, she hasn't caught any animals for ages so we think she might be a bit depressed or maybe just doesn't care anymore. She's really intelligent, she knows how to open all the doors in the house and in the mornings she goes into my mum and dad's bedroom and manages to wake one or both of them up to get fed through a variety of methods (pawing their faces; jumping onto the bed from the bedside table, flicking the blinds, knocking the phone off the hook...) - she stands on her hind legs and looks like a meerkat if you hold up a treat which is really cute and she doesn't like to be held for too long, she starts to squirm away and scratch/bite if you try to hold onto her when she doesn't want to be held. I love her to bits  she's such a character .

I used to have a kitten called Jubilee, but pronounced Jab-er-lee, rather than how it's supposed to be pronounced. This is because she was born on the queens golden jubilee and my little brother came running up the road to my mum shouting - "Mum, mum.. It's Jab-er-lee day". He was only about 2/3 at the time
Jubilee lived a short life however after falling to sleep in the tumbledryer. I'll say no more..

It's nature Zippy. Wild mice happen to be omnivores. It's called the food chain. Didn't your school lessons teach you anything? :joker:
And to keep you right.... my cat as shown ate mice. She didn't kill to play, she killed to eat. She was semi feral. ;)

I have no problem with wild animals killing to eat. But domestic cats kill for fun.
Shows that there is a difference between what a person 'thinks' they know, and what they actually know. Not all domestic cats kill for fun. Mine and certainly my neighbour's cat - both hunt and eat mice. It is instinct Zippy - it is nature.
Unlike careless pet owners who cause an horrific death to their own pet due to their own laziness - because someone couldn't be arsed to cover a bucket of wallpaper paste and put it out of harms way - and were too unconcerned about their own pet to keep an eye on their pet while it was out of it's cage - leaving it to its own devices, to meet it's death, whilst everyone was in bed sleeping.
Hellloooooo ....... !!!
I had a hamster once and we woke up one morning and found him drowned in a bucket of wallpaper paste. We still dont know how the hell he got there. Poor thing.
Give me a pet owner who allows nature to kick in, over a careless, lazy and unthoughtful and inconsiderate one, anyday.
Now stop derailing the thread Zippy. The reason for you doing so is so transparent.
Back on topic.......

-wants a kitten now-
She's beautiful Vicky
Used to have a mouse and an hamster at the same time. We went to get the mouse from a lady in another town.. popped into the pet shop on the way there to get some things for it and saw a hamster in one of the display things trying its very best to eat its way out. We watched it for about half an hour and all it did was dig at the corner of the case where there was air coming through. We decided to get it and then had hammy the hamster and mousy the mouse. Mousy died in her cage underneath her log bed :( And we had to give hammy away when we got the dog... miss mousy a lot :(

Like baby clothes, she'll grow into it... plus she'll get used to it, it'll soften up and take her own wee neck shape in the meantime.
She's a wee cracker. the smudge on the nose gives her that adorable look. Hell...who am I kidding. She's a kitten...... adorability factor is through the roof....smudge or no smudge!

They are literally man's best friend. So loyal and no matter how many times you accidentally step on their paw or have to tell them off for doing something naughty they always come back 2 minutes later for a cuddle or a play  I just wish mine was better with other dogs and then I could take her to the park a little bit more. Either have to take her to the park at night when there are no other dogs about or have to take her for a run around the field behind my house. I think she'd be okay, it's just taking that first step of getting her used to other dogs.

You never know! what I had to do was when I wanted her to sit was say it and when she'd be standing waiting for the treat then push her down so she'd sit and give her the treat, may be better doing at when they're older cos she might not be as hyper :joker:

She can sit down when she's tolld and can hold up her paw but that's about it. Don't think she'll ever get used to cats and other dogs which is a shame because I can imagine she probably gets lonely sometimes. She just goes absolutely mental when she see's them. Makes going for a walk very stressful and embarrasing sometimes :( Love her for it though! She's got the same character as Marley in Marley+me - absolutely a pain in the ass but would never get rid of her.

As long as they aren't weeing and pooing in the house then it's all good, and I can imagine my friend's dog goes berserk when he sees other animals and is a pain on the lead! But it's all a challenge I guess :)

Dear of him  My cat's nearing the end now we think. He's white and white cats usually get cancer quite early.
