View Full Version : Be The Next Josie? A Bad Sign of Things to Come...

I was encouraged how many BB fans really wanted to see 5 'reboot' the series as something unique to 5 and give us a truly unique 'new generation' of the concept.
Started to get concerned when we learned they would use the same house. Little time off. Rumours of wannabe models.
Well this has to confirm we are getting nothing more than a 'BB12' rehash:
This weekend the Big Brother 2011 auditions roll into London!
To be in with a chance of becoming the next Josie Gibson or Brian Dowling you must audition!
This isn't about those two people. This is just telling me they really are doing nothing much more of a 5 knock-off and imitation to squeeze the last drops of money out of the damn thing.
What I would rather have seen is: Do you want to become one of the first HM's on BB1?
Don't make a reference to the previous generation series. I don't need 'Channel 5's version of C4's Big Brother',
or,
even worse the idea is they are reheating left-overs.
But anyways, as soon as you see that message you know any hope of a truly unique reboot is over.

Really don't get why Josie is their prize girl, the woman is a mess :bored:

Its always going to be compared back to the C4 series, its a part of the shows history no matter what channel its on. No point in glossing over the past in hope people will watch again because it wont happen. C5 seem happy just to have the small audience that stuck with BB till the end and i'm glad they're sticking with the continunity rather than being delusional into thinking they can turn it back into its 8M viewer hey-day.

They're just saying that as in 'Do you want to be the next winner?' but using their names since people who watched the show know who they are. It's not going to have any indication of what the housemates will be like.

Yes they do. That is too bad. I'd like to see them try and build something new rather than trying to salvage remains.
..and i'm glad they're sticking with the continunity rather than being delusional into thinking they can turn it back into its 8M viewer hey-day.
Doesn't have to be the choice. Another option is to try and start something new and true.
Collect many (if not all) of the diehard fans still remaining from the last series,
AND,
See if you can start attracting a new audience.
But yes, it seems they are happy to pick over whatever might still be left. Give you some counterfeit cheap version hosted by Josie and JJ.

it is a no win situation if they innovate some will moan its not big brother if they keep the format others will moan there is nothing new
someone should do a poll should channel 5 give bigbrother a new format or keep the old one least then they can upset the camp with the least people

Josie. like her or not and I didn't like the way she used her time in the house , is the current winner of a BB series, maybe the adding of Brian Dowling is because he may be involved with the new series of BB on Channel 5,a very popular choice that would be too, I'd like that.
I guess, be the next Josie is,with her being the current winner,it's meaning if you want to be the next winner of BB then you have to audition for to be on it.
I don't want a tearing up of all that was BB before, I would like it to be taken back to the format it had at the start and the first few series, then some good new fresh ideas added to that format.
I still have great expectations for it and I liked the Big Brother 2011 auditions bit(no BB12 as yet mentioned). The idea was and still is a good one with a lot of mileage in it yet, as it was in the first half of its series is the starting block to take it back to and then put in the new ideas running alongside that.
Unfortunately Josie just happened to be the last winner of BB and even on Channel 5,it is going to be still called Big Brother so the next winner will be just that, the next winner of BB replacing Josie as the current winner of it.

i think they are just using josie and brian as they are fresh in peoples minds as the last 2 winners, and they want people to think they could be the next big winner, not necarserly in terms of their 'fame' or how they acted as housemates. I just think its a clever way of getting into auditionees heads they could be the next winner. I think there will be some big changes in the show maybe not completely in the housemates as its still the same prodcuers doing the auditions and the style of auditions is the same so unless endemol have been listening to peoples views i doubt much will change, but hey they can please all the people all the time :)

This is true if BB on 5 is just a continuation of C4's version. Which is the very complaint here.
It shouldn't be. It was made clear C4's version of BB had ended. So in that case there is no 'current' BB winner. That series is over.
Of course, a lot of this in a word but that word is saying a lot. It really is giving you the idea that Josie is a 'current BB celebrity'. That we are in some 'continuity',
and,
yes, that idea that we are just going to 'BB12'.
One of the responsibilities they can have is to help viewers experience something a bit new. Of course people would complain. If you held votes you would get this:
- Most vote for a Josie and JJ Big Brother. Ugh.

Josie and Brian - opposite ends of the BB winner spectrum. The best they can hope for is a winner sort of in the middle.

Neither of them are close to my favourite housemates ever but if they promoted the series as 'ARE YOU THE NEXT SCIENCE?' it would be a bit weird!
To be honest, I would be more worried if they went with 'Are You The Next Nikki?' because it would be an invite for more screaming drama queens (even more the auditions usually are).

What makes sense would be:
Could you be the next Craig Phillips? or maybe the next Nasty Nick? Audition for the new BB series on 5 and find out!

You should be pleased that this OK TV bit on the auditions specifically says "Do you want to be the next Josie, Brian or Nasty Nick?" :D (and makes fun of Cameron!) Maybe we will get some gameplayers this year?
