LOL you've changed your tune since last time.....that doesnt mean its better, I prefer the quality of games not what a load of little sheepishly boring and uneducated preteen boppers go out and buy.

Example of how SH and RE differ
CL0u9_gNUX0
8oH1v1B9Htg
Resident Evil - Generic (though, Revelations is apparently going back to the old style which is good)
Silent Hill - Always moving forward, except Homecoming, which copied the movie xD
Resident Evil is just all the same to me.. I liked the first 3 in the series but after that the rest were just average, Every single Silent Hill game i have played would better anything after the first 3 and the storylines in Silent Hill are a lot more interesting then the RE one's and as for which game is more scary Silent Hill wins that hands down as well.

There's only so many stories that can be done about zombies, before the just kill off the whole world in Resident Evil (Notice they've starting doing games set in the past - Operation Raccoon City), but with a haunted town that punishes you for your sins, the possibilities are endless.
That's not to say I dislike Resident Evil, I love it, and can't wait for RE6 :3 but I'd rather have Downpour :]
I use to think Alone in the Dark was the best horror game around when i first got it on the old playstation..

It's weird how that hasnt been rebooted yet lol, I know they had a game that failed a few years back, but they've not even tried again lol

*Just remembered this case of copying too (SH3 came out in 2003, RE4 came out in 2005)*

Pro-tip for the future, don't be such a sheep and form your own opinions instead of going with the crowd just because. Sales do not equal quality and it never has.
As for RE vs SH, RE has been more consistent with game quality while SH dipped with The Room and Homecoming.

I think they're both limited ideas, how many times can we see a tortured soul paying for their crimes in SH before it gets old? It's one thing I didn't like about Homecoming and potentially Downpour too because it's basically retreading the same type story as SH2 but undoubtedly worse as that was a masterpiece.
SH has a more interesting story but they are both limited concepts.

Except from what I can tell, Murphy's crimes aren't the big thing in Downpour, it's too obvious to throw a prisoner in the mix and say "He's a murderer!" :p
but I get what you mean, though, I meant it as in, people can keep going to Silent Hill, but in Resident Evil, especially Resident Evil 5, it seems that there was a risk of global infection :p or COMPLETE GLOBAL SATURATION *takes shades off* if they kill the world off, then there's not many more places the series can go

That said, the mansion DLC for RE5 was good :joker:
both Resi and Silent Hill have faced identity crisis', but from what I've heard about Resident Evil 6 & Downpour, the Kings of horror are back in buisness :3

Like you said though, Silent Hill at it's core is just people stumbling into the same town. RE's strong point has never been it's story so I'm not going to bother defending it but i give it props for testing new ground for the series. Silent Hill's is infinitely better but with each game I'm starting to kinda feel very been there done that.

The thing is though that all though the newer RE games have been questionable in design they still managed to maintain a certain quality. Racoon City is just a spinoff title and in fairness it does look quite fun.

Silent Hill went wonky between Silent Hill 3 and Shattered Memories, but I'd say thats down to Team Silent leaving and Team Silence arriving (hell they've only just got a permanent writer in).
That's true about Resi, I think Team Silence have been too afraid to try and take Silent Hill in new directions (up until SHSM) because of the whiny fanboys, but with SHSM, I have a feeling they just thought "**** it, lets get rid of all the series staples that are ruining the series" [The Order/Samey looking otherworlds/The 'I forgot I did that!' storylines], Team Silence have already said they're not going to try and emulate Silent Hill 2 and it's twist - also it's not Murphy's story, it's the story of the town and everyone that's ended up in it - it's not just Murphy who is visiting his personal hell ;)
Book of Memories is an example of Silent Hill starting to experiment a bit more - A Silent Hill game with multiplayer and confirmed DLC?
