View Full Version : Drunken members who insist on posting when they are in no fit state.

Now.. I'm not referring to those who clearly have had one too many, but are still able to post in some coherent fashion... I'm directing this to the type who either 'are so blind drunk' (or 'act' so drunk), that they come online, put up posts that are neither coherent, disrupt serious threads, talk the biggest lot of utter crap, full of words that simply don't make sense - never mind making anywhere close to a legible post.
Should members who are in the habit of coming on in this stage be issued with a temporary ban to get the message through?
As I say, there are many who are more than able to come on when they are pretty drunk (or apparently they say so), who still make incredible funny, daft posts, that are legible and understandable - those are not the ones I mean.
I'm specifically referring to those who are absolutely not in any state to string together a few simple words.... or those who go about being rude, then expect the old 'I was drunk' excuse to get them out of it?

Not at all. It's not about naming names or members.
There are many who do have the ability of being able to 'handle their drink' and still post, making sense - many are and they are funny and still able to contribute.
It's the threads that you open up and think , "Oh FFS..... ". It just seems to be getting more prevailant these past few months.
Obviously, it's my own personal view on it.

Anyone should be able to post when they like and should only get banned for doing things that they would also get banned for sober as well, not just because one person doesn't like it because they are drunk.
And its not like you choose to write in a way people cant read because your out of it so why would just saying you cant come on here going to help.

I'd say coming onto a thread (serious or otherwise - drunk or sober) and posting completely inane drivel, with sentences not making any sense at all... DOES break the forum rules, because the posts do not make sense, disrupt the flow of SOME threads, and are incoherent. ;)

You can think what you like but I was actually drunk. You can believe it or not really doesn't affect me but please explain to me why I would come on here and clearly annoy the **** out of everyone sober then claim I'm drunk and come on sober the next day and be different?
What would be the point of that then feeling bad because people don't like me.

Correct, this is not a Church. It's also not an online sex forum either - but there seems to be plenty of comments put up from fms saying who arses they want to stick their dick up, fms discussing the anal sex they had, both as giver and taker, whether it was sore or not, them discussing having sex with random strangers without protection. Plenty of posts put up about fms wanking, unsuitable pics put up etc: all of which aren't exactly suitable for a forum that has members as young as 13. I don't see you mumbling about any of that.
I'd say me having a gripe about some posters coming on pissed out of their faces (most who do, being underage) - was pretty low grade in comparison.

I agree, I mean if one member can type coherently when they're drunk and another can't it makes no difference really and it seems a very small thing to bother about, if you can't understand their post you don't have to reply. Its worse coming on and goading or inciting arguments, but I guess that can be done whether drunk or sober. I'm not sure we can always know if a member is drunk so how can they be stopped from posting

No offence Pyramid but (using me as an example) if I come on here drunk, which isn't often (twice in the last 6 months), I stick to chat and games threads, so why is that a bother? It's not like I go around insulting people or picking a fight or act a dick. If I were to venture into serious debates for example then I could see your point on this, but nobody ususally does. We stick to chat and games which is for CHAT and games so sometimes that will be the odd drunken chat.
Fair enough they don't all make sense my posts and I cringe the next day, but most of us that get drunk cause no harm.
Also pyramid, why do you seem to always have an issue with at least something or someone on here? It's getting dull now.

Good point, I'd hardly have said that was suitable for 13 year olds either & you've made posts similar to ones like that around the forum
I have to say Pyramid that recently you've become very judgemental, argumentative and provocative and you know you're doing it; it's becoming increasingly clear that it's no accident that you often end up in heated arguments, you do it intentionally
I agree personally I don't think it should make any difference whether a member has been drinking or not so long as they're not offensive or deliberately argumentative to cause dramas or insults to other members and I certainly don't think a few typos or threads that don't make sense are going to offend anyone on here and I don't want to 'butt' in but the last couple of posts seem to be attacking the OP for her opinion and that feels personal and should be done privately surely and not on the open forum.

fair enough it was more to do with someone saying the OP was doing something intentionally, when it might just be something that bothers her and she's made a thread about it. Personally it doesn't bother me at all (members being drunk) like I said before. I virtually don't drink at all, maybe once every couple of years or so on a special occasion but if I had had a drink I would probably not be able to type coherently and I would hate to think I would be banned or have an infraction for that:hugesmile:

To avoid typos we all should communicate by videos instead. :amazed:
Oh no!! I don't usually make many typos when i'm drunk, infact my typing probably has less mistakes when I'm drunk because I'm being so careful and check it loads before I hit reply! You can't hide it on video though :joker:

I don't want to 'butt' in but the last couple of posts seem to be attacking the OP for her opinion and that feels personal and should be done privately surely and not on the open forum.
fair enough it was more to do with someone saying the OP was doing something intentionally, when it might just be something that bothers her and she's made a thread about it.
I was just making a point based on general observation, nothing personal about it, I don't have any personal problems with anyone on here.
Oh the multiquote thing? You see the button next to quote (right hand side), hit that so it goes red, then do that for all the posts you want to quote. On the last post you are wanting to quote you hit the actual 'quote' button. It should bring them all up for you in one post. :)

Also it's funny that you grumble about the points here, but was perfectly fine for you to make a double entendre thread which I personally found a little weird and creepy. But each to their own and all. I just find you very hypocritical.
I think you will find that it's very clearly headed up ADULT.... couldn't be clearer if I tried - you know - ADULT light hearted conversation with a twist - or is that not allowed. I don't believer there was anything in there that even comes close to members on here discussing their sex lifes (or the want of a sex life) in the unbelieveably graphic manner they do - or indeed, forum members sending photos of their genitals to god knows how many people. Now that... is beyond the pale - no matter what way you regard it.
Besides which: A double entendre is exactly that ... could have one meaning or could have another - it all depends on how the reader choses to interpret it. As for weird and creepy... each to their own as you say. I'd hazard a guess that I'm probably one of the least 'weird and creepy' types on here (posting style or otherwise).
Lewd sex talk is part of the game around here and at the risk of sounding harsh ... nobody is going to change that for you. Most of us don't mind it. Quite a large number of us find it hysterical. I agree it's not great for thirteen year olds but there's a very obvious solution to that and it works in the favour of the majority.
Just seems so frivolous to constantly complain about things nobody else seems to mind. I'm not saying leave the forum but it's like booking a flight to a country then going straight to the top dogs with a list of things you don't like that you think they should change or do to your standards. Nobody will listen. A few will find it annoying and might get a bit jaded.

The members who come online drunk that can't type properly don't bother me as much as the members who come online drunk or tipsy and try to cause arguments with everyone.
Who would you be referring to Josy and how would you be aware if someone was tipsy? does that apply to members that are stoned out of their heads as well, and a great deal of members who jump on the bandwagon the very second their pals do the same with certain members?
I agree, I mean if one member can type coherently when they're drunk and another can't it makes no difference really and it seems a very small thing to bother about, if you can't understand their post you don't have to reply. Its worse coming on and goading or inciting arguments, but I guess that can be done whether drunk or sober. I'm not sure we can always know if a member is drunk so how can they be stopped from posting
I'm talking about when it's complete and utter nonsense, that they are so inebriated that they cannot string a word never mind a sentence together...many people can post quite drunk and you'd never know!!
In reply to your last sentence, surely the old 'if you don't like the thread or find someone's posts dull' don't reply to them then.? It seems a bit hypocritical on your own part that that is the advice given out to others when it's suitable?
Good point, I'd hardly have said that was suitable for 13 year olds either & you've made posts similar to ones like that around the forum
I have to say Pyramid that recently you've become very judgemental, argumentative and provocative and you know you're doing it; it's becoming increasingly clear that it's no accident that you often end up in heated arguments, you do it intentionally
Guess what, no one can cause arguments on their own I'm afraid. I raised a thread giving my opinions. If people don't agree with that, that's absolutely quite right. Your own post seems to be more of a personal dig rather than debating or dicussing the subject matter - which I honestly (truly...) thought was against forum rules: ie; getting personal? Mabye I'm misinterpreted that as there seems (seems?) to be lot of it in this thread directed at me in the recent posts?
I agree personally I don't think it should make any difference whether a member has been drinking or not so long as they're not offensive or deliberately argumentative to cause dramas or insults to other members and I certainly don't think a few typos or threads that don't make sense are going to offend anyone on here and I don't want to 'butt' in but the last couple of posts seem to be attacking the OP for her opinion and that feels personal and should be done privately surely and not on the open forum.
For that I thank you Rhino. I agree. It most certainly does come across that I am being attacked for daring to put up a thread that may be a little heated. But if posts are replied to with some reason - there's no need for it to be so. I do wonder if Tibbs wants serious debates, with some flurry of passion along the lines.... or if it's simple banal boring stuff about the latest TV programme etc. Seems pointless in having a serious debates thread if people are going to get all bent out of shape and start becoming personal.
I'm not attacking her, just pointing out the hypocrisy of certain points. :)
I can quite assure you - your comments have been personal - so far as to say some of my posts have been weird and creepy - I actually find that incredibly insulting to say the least - given some things that occur on thi forum. As for the personal slant, there are others who have added to this thread today who have been very 'vocal' on a personal basis and I'm a little surprised as I did (as I say) think it wasn't quite acceptable to criticise the poster personally.

Bit that's annoying me here.... (and not about your post above) but 3 guesses what.. this thread isn't about the 'lurid sex talk'... it was about something entirely different... given that this thread isn't 'griping ' about such sex talk...... I'm getting some hard time for starting a jovial lighthearted innuendo thread...... when I wasn't even complaining about the sex side of things to start off with !!!
Seems you can't please anybody on here.

It bothers me not a jot either. It was in reply to Josy being able to determine when a poster is tipsy and causing arguments and it was merely a point I was making.

As I said - it's no coincidence that you've been at the centre of most of the arguments on here recently. And as I also said, I'm not having a personal dig I'm just making an observation, for it to be personal would imply that I have something against you as a person which I dont, I just think you've been a bit argumentative recently.
I really don't see how this thread is constructive, it's not even like it was posted in the suggestion forum, I think you've just made it to have a moan and be a bit controversial by saying members should be banned if they're drunk, even if they're being harmless enough. And although you dont name names you suceed in making it clear who you're criticising with your moans and then whenever anyone objects to something you say you just act completely bewildered and feign offence.
Anyway yes, nothing personal, just my opinion etc. etc.

I don't see the harm in members coming on here and talking complete gibberish, if they are have a laugh or a friendly drunken chat then that's fine, it would just be unfair to ban someone for that, you wouldn't be allowed to have a bit of fun and entertainment on here any more.
Actions should only be taken if the drunken member is posting in an aggressive, argumentative manner and is needlessly trying to cause fights with other members for no reason.
It bothers me not a jot either. It was in reply to Josy being able to determine when a poster is tipsy and causing arguments and it was merely a point I was making.

And what point is that?
You can't determine when someone is stoned and posting stupid stuff and it doesn't matter anyway because it bothers nobody so why even go to the effort of mentioning it?
You can determine if someone is tipsy and argumentative sometimes if they have said they are drinking and are clearly a bit louder than usual and are pissing people off.
That's clearly what Josy was reffering to, right? Those obvious cases? Not that I want to speak for her.

Oh get a grip woman. Yet again another case of you starting a thread knowing full well what the response would be and digging at members, then turning it to the 'pity me' phase.

Why jump to the conclusion that I was referring to anyone in particular with my post? You asked a question in your op and I posted my reply just like everyone else did, I am aware when members are tipsy because they post on the forum telling people that, I have also never known anyone thats stoned to be argumentative on here.
As for the members jumping on the bandwagon etc comment, I have no idea what that has got to do with my post or the original op.

I don't believe I said that anyone who was stoned on the forum was argumentative: I was making the point that being tipsy is not any worse than being stoned.
The whole thread - to make it completely clear and transparent (once again) is not about people being drunk: it's about those who have not a clue what they are doing: not a few typos, not a bit of daftness or sillyness: but those who are so out of it that they can't put two word together just about.
