Saw this today. it's a very interesting report on what's really going on in Afghanistan.

As i'm sure most people are aware of, one of our(NATO) main missions in Afghanistan is to train the new Afghan Army, so that once we leave, the Afghans are able to protect their new constitution and democracy.

This report studied opinions from the Afghan army and the US military officers working with them.

It is very telling, especially now that 1 NATO soldier is killed per WEEK by someone in the Afghan Army. Literally the people we are training and helping are almost as dangerous to our soldiers as the insurgents we are suppssed to be helping them fight.

In this report we learn about the rampant drug use by Afghans (75% addicted to Hashish, 50% to Heroin) as well as the Afghans torturing dogs, and molesting children while on duty.

very interesting read.

There's been a programme on the BBC recently, Our War, shot by British troops themselves and passed by the MOD for broadcast. It was an eye-opener. One of the most damning indictments was the way the Afghan police that the Brits were training were completely out of control, firing over the heads of children, and actually managing to blow up one little girl. She died while British medics were treating her. They were spraying gunfire around, one of our lads actually said something like "hey d1ckhead, watch where you're firing..." because they were squirting bullets around all over the place. It was appalling to watch. The Afghans had no idea how to act or how to carry themselves and they had no restraint. The Brits and the Americans are obviously trying to lead by example but they really do have their work cut out of they're planning to be out of there in the next few years.
